New shoes for my Mercedes 300TD Estate wagon!

Picked up these old school BBS wheels with next to new tires off of Craig's list. Been looking for a while for something to dress up the wagon. Hard to find something in 16" with the right offset. So These fit the bill just perfect! They are in mint condition and the tires have less than 2k miles on them. They are 225/45R16, and I wish the aspect ratio was 50%, but I can't complain, as I only paid $600 for the wheels with tires.

W123 wagons on AMG 5 spokes are the bomb as well. The reality of it is that there are too many great cars out there.

great looking wagon!

But that ride height was giving me anxiety, so I did this:

Yea, I plan on cutting 1 1/2 coils off the front, which will lower it about 2" and the back I can adjust with the SLS valve, and lower it about the same. Just need to get around to it.

Finally got a chance to lower the wagon yesterday. Cut 1 1/2 coils off a set of front springs, and used the thinner cups up top and used the SLS valve to lower the back. Ride is a little harsher, but the handling is way improved! Like the looks way better, now just need to find a front air dam to finish it off!

Wow, that looks sweet, much better than the SUV stance it had. Did you consider using lowering springs instead?

All the forum research that I did said cut springs were the way to go, and I had an extra set. Plus this was free, so this was an easy decision to make. I want to get 50% aspect ratio tires, as 225/50's would be the same as the original 195/70 tires it came with. The 225/45's are almost an inch shorter stock.

I have always liked those cars, and not that it would matter but what kind of mpg does it get, diesel is still priced good here.

Looks Great!

Theres a tan one for sale near me that I've been eyeballing. It had been crunched and repaired, looks like the whole car was repainted. And its an auto. . . I still really like these though.

Dean, I get about 28MPG on the highway, around 24 around town. I am not afraid to mash the go pedal, so I'm sure it could do better if I took it easy.

That's darn impressive. Life's too short to take it easy.

You will have plenty of time to take it easy when you are dead.
