My issue with Sling, is I have it to get some sports on ESPN or TNT. IMO, the quality is bad. It will go to commercial, and it's a crisp HD picture. Back to the game and the quality degrades. It always seems to cut out at least once during a game (and right during a big play). But, it's the only option w/o cable.

I felt the same way and it turns out my wifi was just on a crowded channel getting to my rokus.

AT&T will be introducing DirectTV Now streaming service during the month of November. There are rumors that it may be introduced this week. They are planning to have 100+ channels for $35 a month.

Variety posted a leak earlier this month with some of the channels that will be included as well as info that AT&T may be giving out an Apple TV or FireTV Stick when you sign up.

Do you have to order their crappy Uverse internet service with it? Because otherwise that doesn't sound too bad

AT&T will reveal everything about DirecTV Now on November 28th

I need Internet access, but really don't care about broadcast TV. My service company charges me $80 a month for basic TV and 400GB / 15mbps worth of data. On top of that is my $50 Straighttalk mobile phone. Can I actually tether my phone as a wifi hotspot and watch streaming movies full time with T Mobile? Then I could dump my cable provider.

It depends on your plan with T Mobile and what you want to watch. Here are the streaming services that they allow unlimited streaming from.

I watch watchfree.to. Not on that list. Every movie you ever wanted including "Sully" already.

You are not going to find anyone that is going to offer unlimited data streaming of pirated content.

AT&T announced DirecTV Nuw yesterday. It is an over-the-top service that can be used with any ISP. If you read the linked article, you will see that it is a mixed-bag of features, some good some bad. I am not a big fan of "personally targeted commercials". But, I may try the 7 day free trial.

I need to do some further investigation on this and also crunch the numbers. But, there is one thing about the AT&T DirecTV Now offering that intrigues me. According to their press, "AT&T has announced that its mobile subscribers will be able to stream its new DirecTV Now service without using their data." As an AT&T cellular customer, this could be a big savings for me. But, I will need to see how it is implemented. I wonder if it would work with my portable hotspot.

The lineup and packages for DirecTV Now are below. If you signup early on this, you will get everything in the "Go Big" package for $35 a month. Go Big includes what is in the "Live a Little" and "Just Right" packages as well.
