Anyone ever plow snow for money ?

I've been doing my own lot, and driveway for the last 5-6 years, and I also blast out the church behind me for free, as it is easy and kind of fun.
I put together a dedicated plow truck for this season, and just took on a few small contracts. I am sure that when I am out , I can dig up a bunch more work if I want to .
I find, that since I have had a truck/plow, that I look forward to big snows, gives me a reason to go out and play with my toys a little bit instead of watching it snow out the window .
One of my old Landlords had a plow business, and I remember that he would easily make big piles of money when it came down hard .
Here is my plow rig, bought it in June for 1500.00 with the plow and salt spreader, spent my spare time patching it up this summer , and painted it work truck white a few weeks back.
Let it snow !

I have a buddy that has a mini-backhoe. He cleans up (literally) after snow falls. Does parking lots, mostly.

Make sure you have plenty of the correct insurance for what you will be doing. As soon as you leave your own property with a plow rig you become a target for lawsuits....trust me.

There are several large forums dedicated specifically to snow plowing, from the business aspect to equipment, everything under the sun. That's where you should be hanging out.

Pal in my complex has a Chevy 3500 with a dump on the back. Hooks up a plow in winter.

Spent two months last fall making what he called lead "suitcase" weights hung on a back bar to offset the plow weight.

He made $80 last winter. No snow.

Ha Bob, I built a big f 350 4x4 dump truck with a 9 ft commercial plow last winter. Had it all painted up and ready to pounce . Never plowed with it once last season . Never even hung the plow on . If having a plow truck means no snow. I am good with that .
I got a good offer on it, and sold it early this summer, and replaced it with this dodge . I always try to buy them run down right in the middle of summer , get the best deals that way .
The past 3 years before that one though, I plowed nearly daily for 2 months. I had snow banks in my parking lot, taller than the hood of my ramcharger that I plowed with .
Before I had the trucks, guys used to charge me $50 bucks a crack to get my lot open. Bad winters were awful, I was always hand shoveling cars out.

I hired my dogs to clean my sidewalk today. They did a crap job. It doesn't even look like they tried.

I'm thinking this winter will be a wet one.
December may kick off with snow, severe weather as storms ramp up across US

yeah, well, the problem is that you spend 48 hrs with no sleep plowing, then the next 24 welding or wrenching on what broke. Be careful what you wish for....
