Anyone drive the new Jag F-type?
Saw a 2017 yesterday. I thought it was a beautiful car and not the same cookie cutter design as everything else out there. The 3/4 rear view was pretty darn sexy.
Even better, still available with a manual transmission! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1479774979.jpg |
I've been wondering too. I saw a coupe that same color a few days ago - gorgeous.
|
Agree. They're beautiful cars in person. Like Aston Martin beautiful. I'd get one without a monents hesitation.
|
Haven't driven one....but I saw Mick Jagger driving one last month when he was here for "OldChella"!
|
Is it still a Ford?
|
Yes, And I put the peddle to the floor. It was the first time I'd driven a car with so much power and I kind of lost my breath for a moment. Very impressed.

Yes! The Jag dealer and the local Porsche dealer are the same, so I drove the F at thier open house. It's a BLAST!

I drove an R when they came out.; fast with a perfectly pitched singing voice. I would investigate a used one as they seem to have the traditional Jag resale.....
2014 Jaguar F-Type V8 S | Bring a Trailer 2 year old.... $41,000. |
The first time I saw one of these was at the Medford Airport... I had been traveling some ridiculously long time and was absolutely exhausted. Nasty head cold, delayed flights, raining when we landed HOURS late. Grabbed the luggage and trudged toward my car in the dark lot and then came across a parked F-type.
I had not seen one until that time, not even in advertising. I literally stopped, left the luggage standing by itself and walked all around the car, head cold and fatigue completely forgotten. Truly lovely - as mentioned above Aston Martin-gorgeous. Very few new cars are really beautiful but this one definitely is! angela |
Yep.
Note - the 2015 is the only year with RWD in the 'R'. The AWD adds 175 pounds for the front diff and raises the ride height. Not so sold on the SVR, too much added 'bling' makes it look GTR-ish, and the added 25 HP? Big deal... if there is one thing this car doesn't need is more HP. Btw, 13000 miles and not a hair out of line, other than a slight speaker rattle (fixed). The build quality is there. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1479832358.jpg |
Jaguar has had a free test drive / autocross setup at Sears Pt during historic races... I went and had 2 runs on 2 different occasions, one cab and one coupe. I'm embarassed to say I forgot the exact model but it was a supercharged 6, not the R.. The cabin was very nice, the sound was the best part, glorious 9wondering if that might get old).... Handling was on par with modern cars, but it felt heavier and twitchy to me - could be I'm used to rear engine stability of the 911 and it's hard to break traction with a 911...
Overall I was very impressed by the looks, sound, design... It's a nice car, but at the end of the day I don't know if it could do track work and not burst into flames.... I prefer the known quantity that is Porsche, I'm used to those now and there was not enough in it to make me switch allegiances. Respect though, seemed like a fun car, like a sophisticated corvette.... (hope that's not insulting) There was no stick available either... deal breaker for me. |
