Dang it!

I'm working on a project that has me buying old watches by the pound and dismantling them. I've gone through about 300 watches at this point, with another 150-200 to go.

Some of them are interesting, like this little guy. It took a minute to figure out how it worked.

My heart stopped for half a second when I came across this TAG-Heuer. Imagine buying a TAG-Heuer for less than $2.00! It didn't take long to identify it as a fake. Can you see it?

No "Swiss Made" on the face. Also, the logo shield looks to be a bit cock-eyed and the work "Heuer" looks to be poorly printed.

Curious, what kind of project are you doing?

There are also no pushers for the subdials, Rolex hands...

Looks like the logo says TAG HEIJEH.

Also, has TAG Heuer ever made a watch that ugly?

I didn't notice that, but yes the shield is out of whack. I did see pretty quick that it has the dials for the stopwatch function there are no buttons to operate the stopwatch with. This isn't just a knockoff, it's a CHEAP knockoff.
Mrs WD and I are doing an art project. It's not much to look at now. I'll post pictures when we get it completed. Think Salvadore Dali.

And you wonder why you can't hire your replacement and retire :)

I'm trying to figure out where he'll find the extra-leggy horses.

Oh man... we just had an estate sale here in Seattle of an old watchmaker. You would not believe the hundreds of thousand of gears and springs etc... all cataloged in row after row of small sliding drawers. Each was in a small envelope. It was incredible. Someone had spent a lot of time organizing the parts.
