PDF editors?
 

I'm unable to edit a PDF online with what I have on my desktop. So I tried a couple of "free" offerings both said they were free ware but not so much.

Any recos from you guys?

If you can't edit it with Adobe Acrobat Pro (latest version) or Bluebeam, then it's likely the file is protected and you'll have to find a good utility to crack the protection. Depending on the level of protection, this can be either relatively straightforward or next to impossible.

As you mentioned it was an on-line .pdf, odds are it is fairly well secured.

Remember that Adobe Acrobat is not a file format like MS Word or .txt files that can be easily edited, but is a "electronic printout" that was originally meant to be open to being annotated, but not edited.

hmmm, well the form is meant to be edited. I'll need to update my Adobe I only have the reader, then I'll try that.

edit: holy crap! Adobe is expensive!! I only want to do one 11 page document.

Not sure what others you've tried.

I began using https://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf-editor/ when Adobe became too intrusive.
(Self-initiating software, which an owner can't shut down, should be considered a virus.)
(Internet virus sources should be investigated and prosecuted.)
(Thus, Adobe software should be prosecuted.)


Foxit updater does run automatically in the background, but kill it once with cntrl/alt/del AKA win task manager.

If it is a form that is meant to have "blank" areas for editing, then you *should* only need the latest version of the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Of course, the author of the file could have goofed up somehow and be inadvertently be blocking content entry, especially if you have certain privacy options turned on, or your Acrobat Reader is an older one and not well integrated with your browser, or if your browser is an older version.

Come to think of it, if you are interfacing with the form via a browser, then trying IE and Chrome in turn may be helpful. My default is Firefox, but most on-line sources default to IE compatibility.

free version, but it puts a little watermark on the docs. Paid version is like 40 bucks.

Does that watermark remain when transferred and opened on another computer?

Seems like that would be altering the data, like a virus.

I use plain Microsoft Word (from Office 365) to open up PDF documents, then it converts them to word then I make the changes I need then I just save as pdf.. Could not be simpler.
I'm done using stupid editors that are limited and the good ones are not free.. Never again!!

With Word works perfectly and I edit documents with images and templates and other heavy stuff..

When I save the PDF to my hard drive then print from the hard drive I don't get a watermark.

It is a little clunky but I presume if you pay for the full version it works a lot smoother.

My work is too cheap to buy us the full Adobe of other PDF editor so this has been our work around.
