My friend FIRED,
Gerard Gallant, fired by the Fla Panthers, and not in a professional way IMO.
|
He has a contract through 2019 so he can sit on his arse and get paid millions of dollars for another 3 years (5 years total) for coaching a hockey team for two years.
Sounds like a pretty sweet gig if you ask me. PS maybe they were still pissed over that first round playoff loss ...... |
Owners are morons.
Their actions will haunt them for years to come, while Gerard will find a new gig and do well. Karma. |

Or maybe they should have figured out they are only two points out of the playoffs with two good players injured, 60 games remaining, and Jager scoring once every ten games. Yea, that's the coaches fault.... |

I suggested that the owners were pissed for sucking in the playoffs last year and then starting the year off sucky and wanted to make a change. That's all it is, a change. The easiest change to make to send a message. Most coaches don't last 5 years, which is part of the reason they get paid millions of dollars. To coach ...HOCKEY! It's their team, their money. They still gotta pay the guy, a hell of a lot more than he's worth if you ask me. But you didn't. |
The delivery wasn't the best. The coach waiting for a cab at the rink having to tell reporters he got let go a day before ownership felt compelled to say anything... But, the owners pay the bills and can make any decisions they want to grow their brand...
Cheers |
Are we all supposed to be upset about this event? No.
|
He would not have been my guess of the first casualty of the season.
I think the GM had a different vision for how th team should look and I'm guessing Gallant peed in someone's cornflakes. |
Old school versus stats. Period.
Once Dale Talon got booted upstairs Galant's days were numbered. This will be very interesting. Non-hockey stats people run the team now. |
Those that can coach do.
Those that can't use analytics. |
Weird thread dude...
Up here in Canada, the great hockey coaches get their pictures embossed on our money. The not so great coaches get the low denomination coins, whereas the great coaches like Glenn Sather from the Edmonton Oilers dynasty of the 80's got their pictures on our $100 bills. |
