Another Volvo wagon on eBay...VERY CLEAN '87 w/<80k miles...

1987 Volvo 740 740GLE Station Wagon | eBay

Located in Wisconsin.....currently at $2,650 (no reserve) with 15 bids and 28 hours left on the auction.

Has a sunroof But alas is an automatic

I like this color too.

From the auction description:

Quote:
As pictured, 1987 Volvo Station Wagon with the venerable 2.4l 4 cylinder engine and 4 speed overdrive automatic transmission. I just drove this car from Florida to Wisconsin in November! Fantastic cruiser. I could not find any rust on the car. Even the underside is very clean and undercoated. It's been a Florida car its whole life. I believe it's only had 2 or 3 owners. Starts easy and drives great. Very low miles for a Volvo at only 80k. These upscale 740 wagons are become scarce and even scarcer with low miles and a clean body. Yes, that's the original paint.

If you're a Volvo fan, like I am, you'll remember the reliability these Volvos built their reputation on. It's not uncommon to see these 'flying bricks' over 200k miles. This one starts easy, no smoke at start up. Gets up to speed quickly and shifts through all gears like it should. Stops like it should as well. It tracks straight down the road. The AC still works on this car! Heat works great as well. Tires are excellent. No chips or cracks in glass. Power windows and locks work. Sunroof works. Radio works. Power steering works. No leaks on ground noted. How about that roof rack! Paint is fantastic and original. Door ding noted in passenger front door. Seats are excellent with only light wear. Lights work. Wipers and widow wash works. The headliner does sag in spots. Some of the interior plastics have become brittle over time and have cracked and chipped. It has a fixed antenna for the radio, not a powered one any longer. I get an occasional 'bulb out' light on the dash, but it comes and goes. Sometimes the 'overdrive off' light will come on and off even when the car remains in overdrive. I did not test the rear window defogger or the heated seats. I know this is an older car, but I would not hesitate to drive it long distance, as I just drove it over 1500 miles straight this month. It drives like a low mileage Volvo should. Check out the photos to see what condition the car is in.
Here's a video posted on the auction site but there are also a lot of good photos to check out (too big to post here)....

I'd love this if it had either a clutch pedal or a turbo, or both. My family had one of these when I was a kid and I think they're great cars. Wonderful seats, too.

I've had a 740, an 850, a V8 740, and a V70 (all wagons).

The turbo 850 was my favorite. Better than a 740 in every way.

Decent 850's are rare now.

I have had a few Volvos. They are as expensive as Porsches to repair. No more. Great cars though.

if you stay with the RWD 4 BANGERS
the pick and pull yards are full of them and cheap parts
and nobody needs to rebuild the motors under 200k to 300k miles
trans on the turbo's are weak but a getrag can be swapped in with an adapter
or a GM auto if you want one to handle a hot rod turbo
