BK Blows It

In a world full of controversy, Burger King ups the ante with something long, juicy, and flame-grilled (ouch!).

A model whose face appeared in a racy Burger King ad says that the fast-food chain did not ask for her consent to use the image of her that way, and is calling for a boycott of Burger King.
The ad for the “Seven Incher” sandwich –which was released in Singapore in 2009-- shows a woman with her mouth open and a seven-inch burger hovering in front of it. The tagline reads: “It’ll blow your mind away. Fill your desire for something long, juicy and flame-grilled with the New BK Super Seven Incher.”

In other important news, BK is bringing back Napoleon and Pedro to advertise Tater Tots.

Napoleon Dynamite and Pedro Reunited in New Burger King Ad for Tater Tots of Course - GameSpot

Shouldn't that be "Brow one and sarrow">

Steve Carlton 12-07-2016 06:01 AM

Who's the model in the second ad? I'd like to meet her.

McLovin 12-07-2016 06:46 AM

No Model Release form obtained!

I'm assuming the second ad is a joke, but in Asia, neither is surprising to me.

I don't think this would fly in the US, but Asia (or Latin America), sure.

wdfifteen 12-07-2016 07:04 AM

The top ad is running in the US. I'm pretty sure the bottom ad is a spoof, but who knows.

Chocaholic 12-07-2016 07:12 AM

Heck, we have an actress blowing voters who agree with her, Madonna promised the same but apparently backed out, so maybe we're just old fuddy duddys. Maybe BK will run a special on Steak & BJ day.

I like this trend!

Baz 12-07-2016 07:16 AM

Wow!

Just noticed this was from back in August 2014......

This.

Also...
Since the original post links an article from 2014, I guess it took her 4+ years to complain? I guess the residuals ran out.

BK has nothing on Carls Junior (Hardees) with regard to sexy advertising....

I guess Carls Junior got better model releases.

vash 12-07-2016 08:14 AM

BK will need to up the game if they are even gonna compete for my attention against CarlsJR.

sammyg2 12-07-2016 08:17 AM

From the ridiculous "clown king" mascot, to the horrible crap chicken nuggets, to the WTF chicken fries, to the homo burger ........
BK is run by imbeciles who jumped the shark long ago and it's just a matter of time until it pulls a sears and goes away.

They did not get her consent to use her picture that way, ha!

She signed a release, written by a lawyer. I wonder if she already paid them back, with interest, the money they paid to use her likeness.

It's way more complicated than that. There is a difference between a release, a blanket release, and a contract. Release = you can use my photo for these specific purposes. Blanket Release = you can use my photo for any purpose. Contract = in exchange for compensation you may use my photos under these terms. You don't know which she had.
