Can Danner boots be resoled?
Been almost exclusively wearing a pair of uninsulated Pronghorns since last summer, and a lot of my feet problems have disappeared :). Problem is, I'm wearing the rubber soles out on the outer heels, since they are hunting boots and not intended for concrete. Not bad yet, but they will be in time. Picked up another pair with some insulation this morning to spread the wear....I'd hate to toss these perfectly great boots eventually, so I'm asking now :)
ps: Gander Mtn has .22lr coming out of their earballs...now that folks are willing to pay .08/rd after years of supply manipulation :( |
they offer the service..
you send the boot and they let you .. other places offer similar pkg.. trick is.. don't wait to long.. Rika |
Thanks Rika...did some searching after I posted....they are mghty proud of that service :(. For a few more bucks, I'll just be buying new boots on a regular basis....unless a better option appears...

And cobbler worth beans could resole them. I'd guess $40-$60.

There's a place called Sykes shoe repair near you that seem to get good reviews.

Thanks HD! Should have used my foogle-gu before asking "my" braintrust :)

Only the USA made boots w stitching around the sole.

I have a few old favorite boots that I would love to get re-soled. But I can't find a competent shoe repair guy to work on them. If you dudes "know a guy", can you post up here?
I have a pair of Red Wing steel toe, some Keens, and a Kenneth Cole pair that I like but wore out. |
i had one pair of redwings done and a pair of danners. i sent them both to the respective factories to get the service.
i hated the results. the soles were perfect, but the food bed i wore down to my janky foot alignment. and with the two attached together it was the oddest feeling in the world. like the sole zagged and the footbed zigged. they were unwearable for me. |

Alden is one of the few remaining American made shoes and is about the closest in construction and quality, they start at $550 and go to over $700 Allen Edmonds and Johnston Murphy custom still make shoes in America..starting at $400 on the Edmonds and going to $475 on the Murphys. Quality which equates to durability costs money, cheap shoes equates to crap. They fall apart quickly. |
Just picked up a pair of Allen Edmonds wing tips. $250 on sale. Very comfortable.

If it is a model that can be "recrafted" then Danner will redo them. The stitching around the outside is not a tell-tale sign because if they are imported they won't redo them.
Hope that helps. |
