Cayman with a Ford Coyote motor

This looks different, and the article lists a different builder, but the license plate is the same.

Someone Stuffed a 5.0 V8 From a Mustang In This Porsche Cayman

This may have been shared before, but I didn't see anything when I searched for Cayman Coyote.

And the video at least is new since it's only been online for a day.

I have a '11 stock Cayman S. I love the sound of the V8 in the video. It would be cool to buy this one, but not ready to give up the factory "S" by any means.

I've seen that one. Kennedy makes the adapters for the coyote and ls engines.
If I had a clean shell that would be my route.

I'm sure that car is a total blast, but in the grand scheme of things, I'd MUCH rather have a Boxster/Cayman with a nearly 400hp 3.8L Porsche motor ala Cayman GT4 or Boxster Spyder.

Sure, as he said in the video, if you had a Cayman with no motor, then a domestic V8 would be a great high power solution vs trying to build the same power with a comparable Porsche motor.

PASM delete? Why?

And watch how far the guy has to move his hand backwards to shift.

Oh well, at least it was really expensive, and loud.

Biggest issue is it doesn't talk to the stock gauges though. If they sort that out and make it more 'street' rather than track oriented it would be great.

I'm assuming because they swapped out the stock dampers for track oriented coilovers that don't support PASM. It seemed like a silly thing to include since they had already stated that they had different shocks. I think the number of shocks that can work with a PASM or PASM-like system are pretty limited. The TPC racing folks that sell an aftermarket PASM style controller (that works in place of the stock PASM module) will also sell you "DDA Coilovers" which apparently have a larger range of stiffness and a much faster response time as well as being able to change mid-stroke, I believe.

At least they have a functioning digital speedo. And they are working on the tach and analog speedo.

I imagine trying to make the embedded systems from one manufacturer talk to the engine controls/sensors of another would be a less than fun task...

Unless you enjoyed that sort of work. I would all be all over it.

Ford's engines are something else these days. That said, powering a Cayman? Frightening...

Also, NOT a car one would want to take a 500 miles drive in...

Why? When fully finished (gauges, etc) - no reason you couldn't drive this every single day of the week.

I certainly wouldn't consider it frightening. Our spyder at 1600 lbs and 280ish qualifies as "exciting" but not frightening. Around the same HP weight (spyder actually has more huevos per pound) and I guarantee that the Cayman has a MUCH better sorted chassis than our kit car.

I view Frankenstein cars like this in much the same manner I view horses...
uncomfortable in the middle and dangerous at both ends. Trying to sit in a Boxster convinced me they aren't a car for me...just not enough legroom for my frame.

I can see the "excitement" of more power...
