Spoon Lube, how much is too much?

Looking for intelligent advice.

I have a relatively low usage Springfield XDS .45. Maybe 300 rounds thru it. I always clean and lube post use with Hoppe #9 products.

I came across a video and was surprised at the amount of oil the guy used. Bottom line, if it ain't dripping it ain't enough.

Is this guy crazy or what? I use enough so that the slide works smoothly with no hesitation. I have never had a stove pipe, light pin strike or misfire.

I would think that much oil would be a magnet for every loose piece of crap/gunk in the planet. Also other vids say don't use leather holsters for storage, I don't for my auto but I do with my Smith wheelios, which is my carry of choice.....

The XDS with attached laser/flash hangs next to my bed due to the juvenile druggie next door.

Leather retains moisture which causes RUST. Also leather holsters wear through the bluing.

I'd guess it's much the same as vintage film cameras. If you store them in their leather cases you're asking for trouble.
