Yeah, but they still have that slack-jawed, ass-scratching moment of "wtf do I do now" that gives them away.

I had a buddy co-worker that ran smack dab into a clothes washer that fell out of the truck in front of him. It happened in the middle of an entrance ramp to the highway - so he had limited space to try and avoid it.

I had a near miss with a concrete block which fell off the back of a pick up truck when he hit a frost heaved culvert.
I had intended to overtake a car I had been following, we met the truck and I pulled out. And very quickly pulled back in again. I shudder to think what it would have done to the underside of the 924S. Best Les |
I also hit a gallon jug of used oil once in my WRX, that scared the sheet out of me!

Sorry to hear, that sucks. I rolled my Land Cruiser avoiding a cheap BBQ grill that flew out of the back of my buddies truck on I-10 at 5 am. We were lucky to have only wound up with a few aches and bruises.

Sunday, I had to swerve to avoid a full size box spring matttress in the road. About 1/2 mile down the road, there was the main mattress...Someone was having a bad day.

Not a debris story but one very late night in my old pickup on the freeway at speed with two kids sleeping all the tail lights of the cars 1/4 mile ahead allasudden blinked on/off for a second.
WTF? Next thing I knew I was driving thru a herd of deer! I picked an open spot lifted and on two wheels braced for impact. Unscathed. No impact! I pulled in the rest stop and started crying. Kids didn't even stir. I recall every now and then, in chilling slow-motion, the image of deer in the headlights zooming past on both sides, their panicked eyeballs inches away. |
