Wasn't sure where the Mustang crash compilation post is, so adding it to this one.

Note to moms: Slap yo' child upside of the face, say "show THIS to your friends". grab his ear and twist violently until he cries!

Just can't imagine how I've driven one almost 26,000 miles without crashing...

I just saw that one today. I just don't get it. A little fishtail and tire spin is NOT that hard to control.

There's some interesting different stuff in this one.

Easy answer sadly. A friend in high school did a "burn out" on a slick road in his 80s station wagon when he was starting to loose control. I had to yell at him to let off the gas. I think these guys just bury the gas and don't let off until the hit something.

What's the deal with blowin' tires on a flatbed?
.
My first car was a '53 Buick Roadmaster, back in '63...used to go out around midnight after a heavy snow fall...intentionally threw her into all manner of spins to learn how to manage/control. A few close calls, only.

Mobile dyno.

We got a few inches this am, and I saw a newer gt about 50 yards off the road in a cornfield . I could not get a pic though.
I gotta be careful now that I am a mustang driver also.
I've owned it for 2 months now, and have yet to do one burnout. Give it time though...

masraum 03-15-2017 08:27 AM

Mustang driver that won the lottery? Oh wait, he didn't hit anyone or anything, so probably not a mustang driver.

Exactly! Why people would invest so much time and money in their cars and not learn to drive is beyond me. Losing it? "Get off the gas, look where you want to go, steer in that direction," is what I was taught. That would have saved most of the cars in these videos.

(Disclosure: I am a current Mustang owner. I haven't hit anyone...yet.)

I'd imagine that many Mustang drivers have moved over from front wheel drive and have no idea that RWD has different handling dynamics. They couldn't get in a lot of trouble in a front wheel drive car. If they could spin the tires, they'd just sit there.

Both my truck and car are RWD. Get off the gas is great advice when your problem is caused by loss of traction due to too much power. When I drive in the snow, sometimes the front end will break loose (understeer) going around a corner. In that case, I'll generally floor it and turn the wheel further into the turn to induce some oversteer. It's either that or hit a curb or stopped oncoming traffic (if taking a left).
