If "North of You" means Canada, all of the responses referencing the IRS are irrelevant. What country are you in?

KFC911 12-21-2016 01:48 PM

I'm honest (to where it's a fault sometimes)...
thanks dad & mom :). I've seen examples throughout my life of thngs like this....not any of my business and I sleep well at night.

Karma....gonna get him....eventually...I hope :)

Most people here would be asking 'should I let him live?' with respect to this person.

Correct, the IRS is not relevant. There are multiple easy ways to go about this anonymously where I live, the tax department encourages it.

Thanks for the feedback. I will be disposing of the mound of evidence in my possession and moving on.

What's still in my head is enough. I don't need the paperwork.

New Years resolution: mind my own ****ing business.

Jesus.. you've been amassing evidence? Might be time to pick up a new hobby.

You said a holding company, right?

Does that mean his business actually does have income from investments that he is managing?
If so it may actually be a going concern and expenses may be legit??

I wonder if that is possible in this case??

Agreed. Just be careful reporting expenses on the schedule C. :)

Our system of taxation is a disaster. It's not going to get any better unless it gets so bad that it is completely unenforceable. You may be doing the whole country a favor by ignoring it.

I agree, ignore.

This^^^ I don't know anybody who would consider ratting somebody else out for fudging his taxes. Unless the guy has done some malicious and intentional harm to you or you family, what business is it of yours.

The term used to be. "Rat Fink"

Would all the "ignore" people say the same if the circumstances were the same but they were cheating the welfare system?

MBAtarga 12-21-2016 05:31 PM

My understanding is that you just can't turn someone in to the IRS (for US citizen) by giving their name. You've got to have social number, bank account number, dates, etc.

dafischer 12-21-2016 05:59 PM

If his shtick is as lame as it sounds, he'll get caught by the lack of verifiable income reported. The mills of the gods grind slowly, but they grind exceedingly fine.

That's an interesting question. My gut reaction is heck yes I would report them. Welfare cheats are stealing money that was allocated for those in actual need of it. They are literally taking food out of the mouths of the hungry. My sense of morality would compel me to report it.
In the US, cheating on your taxes is thumbing your nose at an arrogant, heavy handed, capricious, and powerful government agency that widely despised. Cheating the IRS is a legal transgression, not a moral one.
Now that I understand the OP is from Canada I don't have an opinion on his situation. I don't know if the Canadian system of taxation is as odious as the one we have here in the States.

No. My lawyer received the documents. It was disclosure from a trial.

He has cost me an enormous amount of money. It's hardly a stranger. If it was anyone else in the world I would ignore it.
