I'm not really a dog person

However it only took this little guy about 3 seconds flat to win my heart . I have been fighting my family on this issue for a few years now. My son is 10 , and I thought it the perfect time in his life . They instantly bonded .
We can't really bring him home till next week, but the breeders are local, and they let us keep him for the day today . I thought that was an awesome gesture .
Meet Zeke , the chocolate lab .

Looks like a lab. Good choice. Your son will enjoy him. :)

Cute. We had to put our 15YO mix down back in October. I wasn't really wanting another dog right away but my wife really wanted another.

We adopted Hank from our local Humane Society. He's almost 4months old now and is a handful.

Forgot the pic of Hank. He's a black lab. My son just turned 13 and was devastated about our old dog being gone. He and Hank have bonded well so far.

Labs are great with kids. Just be firm and consistent with training and everybody will get along well.

Merry Christmas!

You have both discovered the single best cure for canine heartbreak. Congrats! We lost our beloved English Mastiff and went a few months before doing as you did. Zulu welcomes Zeke and Hank to the world...

Why can't you bring him home for another week ?

Scott Douglas 12-26-2016 09:26 AM

^^^Probably not old enough to be weaned yet.

Is that a train track I see in the back ground of the pic of Zeke?

I'd love a dog, but am unwilling to go thru the heartbreak of losing one again.

Darla and Layla approve of Zeke. They came to visit yesterday with my son and his wife.

Beau tells me he doesn't really understand your apprehension towards dogs, but that you'll come around pretty quick!

Labs are great dogs! Just be aware that eh will destroy anything he can reach for the next two years or so!

Not all Labs are like that Sid, but some CAN be a handful...that's why I asked Fred if he had experience. Better to train 'em right from the git-go and not let unwanted habits even start :).
My last yellow Lab was "Layla"... most laid back Lab I've ever been around. ...and smart as a whip she was...

How's the pooch you and Tweeze got? Hope y'all are well!

Have had 3 goldens, current is 2 yo. Every one of them even though being very well behaved chewed something that was valuable that somehow made it to the ground. They eventually learned to bring stuff to me before chewing. My first golden wouldn't even take anything that was given to her unless I said it was okay.
