Rare collector car
One of 40 made for the Oregon State Police. I remember when the word was out that you didn't want to mess with these '59 Chevy cop cars...

I remember a couple of cars like this when I was a kid. One was a '55 sedan my neighbor had, which was a real sleeper. I also have a distinct memory of seeing a '59 that looked very close to this one at a stop light intersection in my neighborhood in '59 one day walking home. It was a plain Jane looking car. The guy driving it was a middle aged guy that looked like a salesman. You could hear the sound of the loping caused by the cam and the solid lifters, & it made a really aggressive but quiet sound. Thought it was really cool at the time.

California Highway Patrol used '59 Chevy's for their patrol cars. California law for headlights is that headlights MUST be 24" off the roadway. One CHP officer busted a hot rodder for having too low of headlights. the Hot rodder took a tape measure to the CHP car and it failed. All '59 Chevy CHP cars needed to have all of their springs replaced.
