I'm not betting on it. When I was young, I used to always hear old guys say the world was going to hell in a hand basket. Now that I'm old, that's the way I feel about the situation. There are so many things (and these comments are solely my opinions) that seem to be drawing to a head. One national situation is what has seemed to have brought the country to the current condition of such partisan divide. All aspects of government seem to be permeated by ego driven people wanting to influence according the their beliefs and/or greedy agendas. It doesn't help that the stupid people of the country have voted the same people into office for decades to promote their private agendas and those of their friends, families, and special interests. The latest Presidential election might represent some sort of awakening on the part of the populace. But if real change is to happen, Congress is going to need a huge shaking up. People rightly feel they have played second fiddle to politicians' private interests and philosophies and may finally start rebelling. Next is international competition. Countries are realizing they need to stake claims to resources they will need in the future to dominate and are getting aggressive about it, while the U.S. and it's politicians are still fiddling around. Competition won't subside this coming year or those following, and the ruling group running our government need to get their heads out of their behinds and start planning to meet or best it. So far they have just tried to promote their own interests and agendas. There are lots of other things to comment about, but I feel like these are two of the most immediate. No, I don't think 2017 will be better.
