I've heard that they're going to fight it. We'll see, eh?
Good time to buy their stock?

We are already discussion on the VW diesel thread. Probably good to have a new thread! It looks different from what VW did.

There are software routines to help the truck run better, avoid gunk build up etc. The emission system is tuned depending on factors. Apparently this was not transparent / approved or whatever by EPA and may have led to higher emissions (on average or spike?) than certified?

On the RAM 1500 Diesel Forum there is detailed discussions. Apparently there are 8 routines "Clean Air Act emissions control devices (AECD)" that are giving them issues with the EPA.

So, this is not great, but it is in a different zip code from what VW did. At least from what I could gather.

G

AECD # I (Full EGR Shut-Off at l lighway Speed
AECD #2 (Reduced EGR with Increasing Vehicle Speed)
AECD #3 (EGR hut-off for Exhaust Valve Cleaning)
AECD #4 (DEF Dosing Disablement during CR Adaptation)
AECD #5 (EGR Reduction due to Modeled Engine Temperature)
AECD #6 (SCR Catalyst Warm-Up Disablement)
AECD #7 (Alternative SCR Dosing Modes)
AECD #8 (Use of Load Governor to Delay Ammonia Refill ofSCR Catalyst

The answer is easy: there is a US company involved. Of course the cheating is not that bad then! It is not even cheating!

What US company?

Last time I checked, Milan was in Italy.

FCA is headquartered in Italy and is incorporated in, I think, the Netherlands.

Couple other things...

1. My guess, not a gun was used in this affair.

2. No fine yet, they're under investigation. Fines are used as punishment.

3. FCA employs 225,000 people. They, their families, businesses in the communities would miss them I bet.

I think the new Durango is nice and plan to get one soon so I would miss them. I know, blah blah blah reliability blah blah blah but tell that to our 190k mile 2000 Durango that has been darn reliable.

I would bet the issue here is no where near what VAG did since it seems to be lack of disclosure on items used more than anything.
