Need to repair cracked collar on a leather jacket.

I've had pretty much the same jacket for the last 23 years. Just a comfortable,. bad ass leather jacket with patina..

The collar is cracking and I'm wondering what to do about it. I figure the panel would be replaced? What can I do to prevent further cracks and such?

I'd have someone overlay some corduroy over that in such a way as to make sure the edge seam doesn't chafe your neck.

But what I usually do is take things to a pro, and listen to what they suggest.

Wouldn't a good tailor be able to replace that piece of leather?

My experience is with motorcycle leather suit repair, Lizzy Leathers or Barnicle Bills. Both repair raciing suits and recondition. They customize and make alterations. Located in VA and KY.

The oils and salts from your neck and hair destroyed that collar.

Decapitation would prevent it.

I'd replace it with new leather and budget on doing it again in 25 years.

Sherlock Holmes wants to know if your dominant eye is on the right and how much you shoot with that jacket.

Leather Jacker Repair

Nostril,

I see that you are also in the Portland area. You might consider contacting Langlitz Leathers (in SE Portland - Langlitz Leather | World's Finest Motorcycle Leathers | Custom Leather Garments). I would be surprised if they would do the repair because I think the only work on their own jackets, etc. However, they might know who in Portland could do the repair.

Add some fur to the collar.
