Movie Suggestions?
The last time I batched it I asked this rolling community for a movie suggestion and I netted one of my all-time favorites: Taken.
Can we discover another slightly lesser-known great movie? I'm looking for a sweeping adventure, nothing too dark. It should pair with venison backstrap and red wine. The second movie will ideally complement a Laphroaig 10. Thank you for your help! |
North by Northwest?
Ong Bak, a movie about a boy and his elephant. There are scenes where he is running through town that are pretty amazing. Subtitles, good story, great action, acrobatic fights. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/0q-BqxpGx7U" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
If you like an older classic...hard to beat this one

Don't bother with Taken 2 or 3, they are pitiful compared to the first one.
Have you seen the Transporter movies? For some fun fight scenes and things getting blowed up real good they are mindless fun. I really liked Expendables 3. Evey action star all in one movie. |
They call me Nobody, good old western with a twist.:D

Some from the way back machine:
- Three Days of the Condor. Great s vs s movie. <iframe width="854" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/PBZf7vifXmY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> - Breaker Morant. My all time fav. <iframe width="854" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/q-AKnXMEqhg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> - The Manhunter. F'ing masterpiece. <iframe width="854" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/czVMfUd5dFI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

the Sting was the first movie i saw with my dad..wish he was alive so we can keep watching it..loved that film. i dont even remember understanding the grift back then.
i just watched the Accountant..great film. i can now forgive affleck for his role as the Punisher. |
This may be a little off the wall and maybe you wouldn't like it in the end but there is an older movie I liked. It's an Italian movie by Lina Wertmuller titled "Swept Away." It stars Giancarlo Giannini and Mariangela Melito. Kind of a simple story about two dissimilar people who end up on a small island trying to survive until they are rescued. It's a pretty European style movie. There was a 2002 remake starring Madonna as the leading lady. I didn't see it & don't care for Madonna.

7 academy awards..a great storyline. The poker game with Paul Newman and Robert Shaw on the train is one of the best scenes ever. |
I worked on Deja Vu' a good Si-FI that didn't get much traction. We filmed most of it in Post-Katrina in New Orleans.
|
Shooter with Mark Wahlberg and Danny Glover is always entertaining.
|
The Grey. Liam Neeson.
3:10 to Yuma (new version) Band of Brothers series. |
Super 8
