Finally Had My Work Published !
Hi all! I wanted to share with you my work and vision being presented in a just published book "1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS in Detail"available via Amazon. While I have had other works subject in major bike and car ( hobby ) magazines, this one is different. This book is written by the authority of Chevelle history, correctness and option list as well as the idiosycronisities of the brand and each plant that assembled them at that time.
I've posted pix a few times in the past of my survivor 1970 SS LS5 454. I saw myself as more caretaker than owner, the process more maintaining it's survivor status using original parts instead of a 'restoration'. I have many motorized passions in life starting at a very early age (9 or so), but the 1970 454 SS Chevelle easily top 3 to this day. I've owned 17 Chevelles to date at my now 57 year old self, most of which were '70 big block cars where I could never not tinker with them. I found this particular car as I gave up trying to find an original LS6 car with my budget and time frame to complete the work. All the work except matching parts of the factory laquer paint was done by me. It was my vision, my hands, my geekness. While I may never reach the talent or accolades of people like Chip Foose or some of the people in high- end Porsche restoration. Today I actually DO have that feeling!! Enjoy! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1485712208.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1485712208.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1485712208.jpg |
Congrats!!

Sorry for the sideways pix - it is how they uploaded to PP.

Very cool!
I've always loved Chevelles. When I was 16, a buddy had a 70 El Camino SS with a 402. When I bought my first Porsche, I had actually been planning to buy an old Chevelle in decent shape (minimal rust) and go with a crate motor, upgraded disk brakes and suspension/wheel upgrades. I'd still love to have an old Chevelle or Impala |
Well done. I'm sure the book will be very popular.

This deserves pictures that are oriented correctly.
Congrats! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1485720376.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1485720386.jpg |
My mother had a '64 Chevelle 2 door wagon. Sort of a mini Nomad with sliding back windows. I had plans for that car after she was done with it. Alas, it got stolen & trashed.
Congratulations on seeing your efforts in print. |

Well done:)

Congrats, Dale! Appreciate sharing this accomplishment with us.
Both my older brothers have Chevelles and I will pass this info along to them, as well as your website chevellestuff.net. Again....CONGRATS!!! |
Awesome Dale!!!!

How cool is that!
Well done and you must be very pleased. |
Very cool! Congrats!
|
Excellent!
|
How do you keep them so clean?
|
Nicely done. I had a 71 Chevelle. I'm going to get your book. Gook Luck!
|
Very well done!
|
Excellent work! I know how hard it is to get something published.

Thanks all, especially Douglas who correctly positioned my pix. To be clear Dale McIntosh is the owner of the Chevelle Registry who wrote and had the book published. This is his 3rd book in a series, already working on a 4th as we speak.
I'm the guy that restored / owned the black Chevelle. What makes this publication special it is the 'bible' for 1970 SS Chevelles. To have my work, the finished product make the cut is a great feeling. It is my understanding that my car is slated to appear in the next book with a projected release date of 12/17. |
