Nothing about Tennis ? Aust. open
Probably one of the best 2 or 3 tennis matches of all time... Super high quality shot making, 2 awesome competitors loved by the crowds, both older and coming back after injuries - a heck of a more interesting final than a Djokovic/whoever...
Amazing, glad to have seen it ! Worth checking out the replay or summary if you missed it ! |
Yes! A super performance by both. One of the best of all time.
And the Nadal - Grigor Dimitrov semi match was equally superb. . I read a few years ago that the field not only respects Nadal's skill level, but they mostly fear his will. He once said, "I want them to feel pain." I love watching him. |
By the way, some are now willing to refer to Federer as the 'best of all time'.
R. Laver has hinted such. I'd agree. |

Roger has all the stokes...all of them!
. Darren Cahill, tennis analyst for the Grand Slam events, was the courtside announcer for the Nadal - Federer match. During the match the subject of Federer's control of the ball prompted Cahill to interrupt, saying that Federer's last stroke allowed him (Cahill) to clearly see the logo on the ball. It had such little spin. Super control!!!..when you consider Nadal's extreme top spin rotation. The guy is unreal. . I played USTA tournament tennis in my younger days, ranked 13th on the No. California pro circuit at the time. It's amazing how, when you've executed what you think is an offensive shot - it ought to end the point (you think & hope) - and the guys who are world rated not only are there waiting for your shot but will hit their own offensive shot off yours...ending the point. This is what we can witness when we watch gifted players like Nadal & Federer...shot after shot. |
