my truck going 70mph and a thrown egg going 30mph meet.

wow. last night.

i spent the week in the tuscon desert driving dangerously..crossing creeks, going over logs..climbing big hills..crushing ice patches.. dodge LA traffic going there and back..drive thru a dust storm of biblical level..come thru unscathed and still getting around 20mpg..i am 8 miles from my house after driving STRAIGHT home from AZ to CA..and northern CA too!! BOOM!! some chithead kid with one hell of an arm launches an egg at me at 2:30 in the morning. (i hope it was some kid and not some feral adult)

it damn near blew a hole in my passenger mirror. i was coated with egg. i washed my truck after rushing home..i thought the "mystery stuff" was some paint remover since it was hardening..nope it was egg and it was FREEZING to my truck..i washed my truck with a soapy paper towel and my garden hose..shivering. went in to take a life saving hot shower and fell into bed.

kids these day!! i am thankful it didnt blast out my windshield at night. i was just starting to get sleepy..

now to order a new mirror assembly and google if it is DIY-able.

Idiots! Sorry to here about it. What kind of truck is it? If it's a Ford, I work at a Ford dealership and if you need, I can use my employee cost and ship it out to you if you can't find a decent price.

People suck. It sucks that you're now stuck with a bill because of it. At least it didn't hit you through the open window.

Hopefully, Karma comes back around and bites them in the ass X2.

Cmon Marcus, you know better by now.

Eggs suck.

Stopped at the bank one summer eve.

Parked the 911 directly across the street, driver window down.

In the bank literally a minute.

Get back to car and some asshats had thrown eggs through the window.

Little bastards.

Took me an hour to clean it all up.

Even though you are most likely spot-on correct, it belongs in the other forum

So I'm reading this and for the life of me, can't understand. An egg obliterated the passenger side mirror housing, came out through the mirror and ended up inside the vehicle? WTH? Armor piercing egg? Maybe it was frozen, or did some douchenozzle jerk-face kid, with the face of a jerk fire it from a bazooka? We must find out, in the name of science.

Some kids egged my Suburban years ago - the cops came and looked and actually found tapes at the nearby Safeway with a bunch of kids buying eggs - I didn't hear what if anything happened after that. However, the bad thing about this was..... when the eggs hit the painted surface they broke in a way such that sharp edges were exposed as the egg collapsed against the paint (a bit hard to explain) - the paint is actually chiseled away from the surface underneath. You might want to look if this happened.

I think what happened is the egg hit the mirror housing and the egg exploded sending egg in through the window. At the same time as the egg was exploding, the mirror housing was probably cracked/broken. I don't think the egg actually went all of the way through the way you describe.

Funny, a quick search for the picture that I found for the second quote below, also provided this pic.

Yeah, back in about 1987, my dad's 1982 corvette was egged. Just one or two eggs, but it leaves some very fine concentric circles that almost look like a small spider's web, but without the web parts that radiate out from the center.

I just found this online.

I didn't realize eggs could do so much damage, other than the gooey part making a hard to clean up mess.....dang...that bites, Cliff....especially after a long hard drive...crappy way to end the evening....

Sorry to hear, Vash. My Land Cruiser was nailed by a bunch of punk kids from the back of a pick up. We were waiting for a seat outside of a crowed restaurant and my truck just happened to parked there and it shielded the people. I know they wanted to hit the crowd. It would hurt like hell if someone were to get nail in the face. Damage the eyes for sure. I have the same circle, just like the pic. That damage doesn't go away.
