My kid is car shopping. Anyone have access to Carfax?

The $39 is a bit steep for him. Does anyone have access and can send me a Carfax for a car he's looking at? He would be so thankful :)

i'm all for helping a guy out but don't you often regale us with stories of world travels with your lovely bride?

maybe spot the kid the $39?

Wayne has a firm policy against sharing Carfax reports. It violates their terms of service and can get him into trouble. Folks try that on the technical board with some frequency and get shut down quickly. Best not to do it here either.

Its really not about the money. We have a nice tradition of helping each other out here. I've spent dozens of hours happily answering travel questions for people when I'm able to :)

I do know that some people have access to Carfax as part of their work or business. Who knows, maybe we have someone working for a Toyota dealer here.

I had no idea. Probably is a bad idea to ask, then.

This, supposedly they enforce it rather aggressively.

The only thing it's really good for is tracing the ownership history...and even that may be suspect.

It does tell you if car was a rental doesn't it?

Have you thought of asking the seller to provide a carfax? Sometimes if you're serious about a car a seller will do that.
