I doubt that would fit!

impressive horsepower. Hope it performs well because it is an asthetic train wreck.

Horsey power and using it. Too much hp can get you in to all kinds of trouble. You can wrap that thing around a tree, get a nice fat ticket, and generally it makes any vehicle hard to control. Yeup hp is a macho thing, sure you can tell your buddies you are squeezin' out 500 bhp, but in a different field, aviation those numbers are small! LOL! Hell an old bomber makes round' 2000+ in one of its 2-4 engines, in a turbo prop its known as shp, or shaft horsey power. 7000 shp is not uncommon.:D Now on the drag strip its also necessary, but those ol' boys crunch em' up with the best of them. Yahh you want some good numbers, but remember you also have to control that thing....;)http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1485871738.jpg

You too can be the first to wrap your new 800HP Camaro around a pole....be just like the Hellcat boyz !

I'm definately not interested in getting one, but am amazed at how far the hp game has gone.
At about 4.5 times the hp of my SC, it seems to be getting to the point of unsafe. I'm sure sooner or later, they will have to cap it to a certain level.

Never enough hp in a Camaro.

Remember not too long ago when hp was dead because of 'computer' and emissions? Pretty amazing.

I know I'm the odd old man here but I like it... in a life size Hot Wheels kinda way. :D

Most fast production cars exceed their safety systems.
How much performance is too much for 3 point belts?
A GT3 street car would be better with 6 point belts too.

How do they adjust the nannies on these big hp Camaros?
The nanny must help keep it controllable?

If you want to safely use all that power put it in a Trans Am spec chassis.

An 800 hp mid-engined 'Vette would be interesting...

mrm930 02-01-2017 07:43 AM

speaking with regards to the camaro - you need just enough horsepower to total the car after it hits the wall. any more than that is a waste.

This

I am not familiar with this concept of "enough horsepower."

They don't call 'em muscle for nothing. Problem is, on a crowded freeway or city arterial, they're no faster than a Camry.

(edit) Here's a piece on a Bullitt Mustang (click the video) modded to 1,000 plus horsepower by Brenspeed. I have zero desire to mod mine. For the real world driving I do the stock 315 horsepower is plenty.

:D I don't agree with how he holds the wheel.

Driver looks like he should be holding a cig with his right arm,
since he only uses the left arm with kung fu grip to drive.

Yeah, he'd probably not be able to hang with a well set up 944.

Nice to see the Yenko name still out there. Lot of history there.

I don't think todays 6-7-800 hp Muscle cars are any more over powered compared to the rest of the vehicle than a 68 GT500 or a 76 930. While you can argue that 702 is more than the tires, brakes, suspension etc. can handle so was 260-300hp more than the tires, brakes, suspension technology of 40-50 years ago. And while you can argue they are going faster before they get in trouble, they also have far far superior ability to get out of trouble (traction control, ABS, Stability control etc.) and have slowed down before exiting reality backwards and sideways. Plus with the infinitely improved understanding of vehicle structure, Air bags, inflatable belts etc., when you go off the road at 100mph you're probably going to fair better than you would going off the road at 50mph in a 930 or 40mph in a 60's muscle car.

This is the golden age of motoring no matter if you swing domestic, Euro, Asian or you're a swinger and like all types. The constant moaning of one subset of the culture about another is annoying. Let's appreciate great cars that are obtainable by more people.
