Pinterest - WTF?
 

I did a web-search which lead to a Pinterest page. So, I signed up to read it.

OMG - I was spammed so much from that site that I closed my account. Who uses that?

I do, very little spam.

I don't, but I use extended addressing on my mail server. Basically my real address is me@mydomain.com but any mail sent to me-anything@mydomain.com gets delivered to me@mydomain.com.

So *every* place I do anything email with gets its own address, if I start getting spammed I change the mail server rules to send it back to them :)

That is a great way to do it but not an option for us mere mortals without our own mail server.

I hate pinterest. whenever I do a image-search on google some/many of the results are located with pinterest. Try viewing those images!

right click and select view in a new tab, it bypasses pinterest.

I think on normal searches you can click on the little downarrow, and view cache, w/o pinterest.

I'm on it without spam problems at all.

gmail? spam went way down when we moved our email hosting to google.

Well, I'll really call it UCE, but the issue is the default settings on Pinterest allow ANYONE to send junk mail to you.

And I tried to delete my account. you need to receive an e-mail and my e-mail system keeps deleting the e-mail!

There is a ton of garbage there, but there's also some really talented people and some good ideas.

No different than youtube.

Lots of great Porsche photos there.

The issue isn't the content, but that the site gave my e-mail address to a bunch of vendors who started sending out a dozen e-mails per hour.

The problem is, the Google pinterest result is shown in a frame, pinterest quickly reloads the page without the frame and the image is gone.

I have no idea what pinterest is about.
This thread makes me wonder what it is used for?!
