question about those 3-gun challenge guys/
how do you suppose they even practice for fast accurate shooting.? they must burn tens of thousands of dollars.
my coworkers are considering starting an amateur 2-gun challenge at the .22 cal level. it would take hundreds of dollars of ammo for me to not embarrass myself. :) any fast shooters here? |
Lacking equipment, time, and ammo money to REALLY do it (my only centerfire rifle is my FAL kit build)
But... you really only need to go full tilt with equipment and practice IF you really want to seriously compete. Personally, I find it fun to just shoot with different courses of fire, etc. Good time to get out with a buddy or two, and compete amongst ourselves with the same low level equipment. |
a lot of dry firing
some even train with airsoft |
Having shot pistol in USPSA for a decade, I can say becoming fast and accurate is a labor of love. I dry fired in my basement just about every day and live fired twice a week. A few different core drills, with rotating others (I.e. No need to practice weak hand every single time). It's fun to practice stages, but each stage is just a bunch of basics strung together. If you go center fire, you either need a progressive loader or a ton of money.

Keep an eye on the forums that 3 gun folks frequent as some get tired of it or to old, ETC and sell things. I bought near new Gibbs long range muzzle loader for about half price as the shooter was just giving up shooting??!!

I'm not into speed shooting, it's kind of like automobile burnout competitions, pointless, and wastes alot of $$. I don't even like burning through a whole clip.
I have a set up target out in my back field that I have 25, 50, 100 yads marked off for accuracy shooting. I look forward to getting my new AR15 out there and dialed in |

I like shooting rimfire silhouettes. I like shooting steel at speed. I like shooting skeet, and trap. If you want to go to a restaurant and just order an entree off a menu, feel free. I'm gonna hit the buffet :D |
I haven't shot nearly as much as most of the guys here. I'm OK, reasonably accurate, but not fast. I thought Rob's statements in this video were a revelation. It made so much sense and seemed like it should have been common sense, but I certainly never thought it.
