Well... I was expecting two packages on 1/24. Tracking says "delivered in parcel locker". Not there. Left a note for the mail man. He said he'll look into it.

Nothing. Had to wait 7 days to file a claim. I assume it was uninsured.

Ended up calling the vendor and they replaced right away and delivered via 2-day UPS.

I'm a big fan of USPS. Sending stuff out here to the colonies can be an expensive business if you accidently click UPS instead. I like the flat rate boxes so I know in advance how much it's going to cost. It makes it to New Zealand in about 8 or 9 days when I choose cheap rate.

They do a great job in my area...very happy.

same here.... we live near a small town somewhat out in the country and get great service at the post office and from the very nice but somewhat dingy lady who delivers our mail to our mailbox.

I think it's the fact that usps is using fed ex planes.
As for Amazon, I think that has more to do with that usps is the final delivery system, and the infrastructure to handle such a task.

Yeah, the Post Office has contracted with FedEx for various services. The one I use a lot is FedEx SmartPost. From the midwest to the west coast, a package is typically under $10 for SmartPost vs over $15 for the Post Office. Both are delivered to the doorstep by the Post Office and "FedEx" does not even appear on the shipping label. They just fly it the long distance and then the Post Office does the local delivery. The catch is that you must take a SmartPost package to a FedEx office, not a Post Office.

Just today, I got a text from Amazon stating that my package would be delivered tonight...USPS already delivered it yesterday morning! And I'm not expecting anything else from that order.

What's really crazy is shipping to Canada via USPS. Example, $41.50 to send a padded flat rate envelope ($6.50 anywhere in the USA) The Post Office told me all of that expense is on the Canadian side of the border.

Nah - coincidence, right...

Listening to an acquaintance ***** about his job I think they now have a two tier wage scale. The new one is I guess $15 per hour the old employees $30. The new employees do the Sunday stuff (no overtime).

We love the flat rate boxes up here in Anchorage.

Let me get this right, you want stuff from another planet to show up faster that stuff from the other side of the world??

Tell him I'm one of those guys who order 40 pound bags of dog food on Amazon, for Sunday delivery

Opened my Smartphone after a "Ring" doorbell chime while at work the other day, only to view the USPS guy dropping (3) packages on the porch without even bending at the waist.
Thank goodness it wasn't anything fragile....

Just giving this a bump!!!

Once again, USPS has delivered every single one of my packages early (before the estimated delivery date). Have been ordering lots of stuff from fleabay and most of it is coming "USPS Fast and Free" from all over the country. And nearly every package I have gotten from the doods in brown (UPS) has shown up on time (never early despite the packages being tracked to the local warehouse sometimes two or three days early), or rescheduled for a later day!!!! Had one situation where UPS was the carrier and needed to hand-off to USPS for the final delivery...yep, UPS dropped the ball and held the package an extra two days before the handoff to my local USPS branch.

That's all.

sand_man 02-14-2018 12:17 PM

Have also had three UPS deliveries left on my neighbor's porch!!!!! Address was clear on the box/label!!!

JackDidley 02-14-2018 12:23 PM

Still getting great service from our small town U. S. Postal Service.

USPS subs out some small parcel business to Fed Ex, Fed Ex does the work and delivers to local USPS office..... Then they deliver to your home/office.

stomachmonkey 02-14-2018 05:33 PM

My USPS service is great.

Love my carrier.

Dude loves his job and it shows in the service we get,

If he takes a day off and we see a replacement the whole street panics that he wont be back

HardDrive 02-14-2018 06:41 PM

Yeah, I have to admit, the USPS seem to have turned a corner. Much better service than in the past.

We get tons of shipments, very, very rare that there is an issue, and that is always around the holidays.

KNS 02-15-2018 02:39 AM

You guys seem to have a lot of luck with USPS. Two recent Pelican orders got lost but eventually arrived several days late.

Since we’ve lived in this house (11 years) we’ve many, many times exchanged misplaced mail with our neighbors.

sand_man 02-15-2018 03:56 AM

Here's a current example:

USPS (Fast and Free) - Ordered a new Snap-on ratchet on Tuesday, 2/13. It's coming from Oregon. The original estimated delivery date was Saturday, 2/17. Then it got changed to Friday, 2/16. Now it is scheduled for today, 2/15!!! And my mail person delivers before noon!!!

UPS (Free Ground) - On Tuesday, 2/13, ordered some small clutch parts for our Jeep, coming from PA. Estimated delivery date was Friday, 2/16. The parts have been sitting in our local delivery hub since Weds, 2/14!! I guaran-damn-tee, UPS will not deliver them until Friday!!!!!

I realize that UPS wants me to pay for expedited service to get expedited delivery. However, USPS doesn't seem to care!!! If they have the package in their hub, they will send it out for delivery, rather than hold it!
