Not saying who this is, but if you saw me at the pool I'd look remakably similar. Turning 53 next month and don't cringe when my daughter asks me to take her to the water park.

Congrats Lee! Keep up with whatever you're doing. It's serving you very well. The best thing about keeping fit is you're not held back in terms of activities you want to do & you are less likely to have to deal with some health issues as time goes by.

Lee, I'm afraid that at 52 YOU DON'T QUALIFY TO BE ON THIS THREAD!
Ya, lookin' good Lee! Hey, we're getting more guys to post pics of their six packs...as Marv stated "It takes guts to show off your gut here!"...well done gentlemen! |

I like my privacy and generally don't post photos on line. I think I have only have taken one selfie in my life (so not really my bag) but I did find that one on my computer (below). It is what I look like in mid summer when I am outdoors more. It is pretty recent (I was either 57 or 58 so it fits this thread). It is cheating and does not show abs, but you get the idea. My waist is thicker than I would like...but I do have some definition (even my stomach)...just as in my arms (lost a lot of bulk with age). I am a bit pumped up and dehydrated after a mild workout in this photo. I think the combination does more for being able to see definition than almost anything else. For me, the mlld dehydration makes me look fit, but is not really intentional and causes workout cramping. I am short and thick enough that I look chubby in work clothes (unless I stand next to a guy my age).

My daughter and I are usually watching some series on Netflix that we start over dinner. That usually leave 30 minutes worth of show to watch after dinner. I don't like sitting on the couch, so I pull out a pair of 30 pound dumbbells and do curls, presses, push ups, planks, etc. Quote:

That's some really good delt and triceps definition there fintstone!
Can you guys share with us what your typical weekly workout regime consists of? Here's mine: Monday: 20-30 minute cardio workout (350-500 calorie program on my elliptical trainer .... depending on how "energized" I feel ). I aim for a heart rate of 120-140. Tuesday: Circuit weight training (heart range aim is 100-120) = chest, arms, and abs Wednesday: ^^^= legs, lower back Thursday: ^^^ = upper back, shoulders, abs Friday: Cardio again Weekend: I try for at least one more cardio session on Sat or Sun This schedule is, of course, on top of other activities (cross country skiing, etc) and season dependent too. Luckily for me over the years I have built up a pretty complete home gym in my basement BUT...even then I must often tell myself..THERE ARE NO EXCUSES! GET OFF YOUR AZZ!!:p And what about youzz guyzz? |
What's you age?
What day(s) do you rest? . Oh, I see...Sat. or Sun. I would think that you'd want to rest more than one day...eh? Or no? ~~~~~~~~~ Quote:

Don, I'm 56 (and 2/3rds!....57 in July). I consider my cardio days as my rest days as I'm not doing any resistance training on those days. As I mentioned since I'm lucky enough to have all of my own equipment, it's just a matter of me puttin' on some shorts and runners and down to the gym I go!

. Reading this thread is nudging me into some motivation. I dated a tri-athelete many years ago...she used to say that being fit made her feel secure. |
^^^My regimen works out to about 200 minutes per week which is really NOT a whole lota time in the grand scheme of things when you think about it. The current recommendation in terms of physical activity is about 150 minutes per week for adults which, apparently only some 15% of us achieve.
Don, I'm gonna nudge you some more here....I'm pretty sure that you're retired, correct? Well....what do you do all day? Make it a point of getting some 30-45 minutes of exercise in each day and you'll not only feel good and feel more energized BUT you'll also look better which may just nudge the wife/GF into some more.....errr....after hours "action"...if ya know whata mean ;)! If there's one thing I should caution you about is that especially with the weight training, your testosterone level shoots up dramatically which makes for an increase in your sex drive.....so YA, I'm pretty horny most of the time...:p! Fortunately my wife works out regularly as well and, at 56 also, she still looks really HOT......PLUS she gets pretty "randy" and "demanding" too as well at times....which I have no problem in obliging to fulfill her desires when the time calls!! Hell Ya! :D My $0.02 to you!;) |
I pretty much just do push-ups and run now and then. Try to keep my diet low carb, low sugar.

Photo is proof of my six pack and I am over 55
