Your opinion - medical question.

A week ago today I had a minor motorbike accident. A car crossed the center line, I put on the brakes, and skid+bang+hit the road. It kind of knocked the air out of me but I was OK and five minutes later rode off. Now my leg is quite sore and some weird lumps here and there.

It's not that sore and if I'm busy doing something I forget about it completely.

GF says I should see a doctor and get xrays in case it's fractured. But my position is why pay all that money to have them say "sure a minor fracture, we can't do anything about it, you'll be fine in a few weeks." What are your thoughts? And thanks.

Likely have a few hematomas from the trauma. It seems unlikely there is a fracture. However , the only way to know for certain, is from an x-ray. If it were me, I'd watch and monitor. Good luck, Tim

Arnica based creams work wonders on bruises. Still it bothers me there has to be a debate on getting an Xray or not... stupid medical system... You never now re: clots or something....

X-ray diagnostic on limbs is really pretty cheap. Have your leg checked-out by a Doc. Probably $300-$400 at an urgent care center.

Of course it's always better to be safe...go see doc, write check, go home. I'd probably do the same as you though. Watch it for a day or two then decide.

If I'm busy doing stuff and forget that I injured myself I'm pretty sure I wouldn't go see a doctor about it.

OTOH, if there's witnesses of some guy illegally ramming me while I was legally on a motorcycle that knocked me down and dizzy for 10 minutes with a horrible pain in my leg so bad I can't stand/walk I think there could possibly be a check in there somewhere.

I currently have BCBS, and tricare. But for BCBS the x rays are no co pay, and no referral. Just have to go to a radiology center.
Also my local radiology place I was able to get a knee MRI without referral and cash for 240$. I can't think of a x Ray costing more then that.
