What are your thoughts of this V8 Powered Rat Rod 964?
French hot rod shop Danton Arts Kustoms has created this insanely wild Porsche 964 rat rod. They removed its air-cooled flat-six and replaced it with a Ford big block V8. Not only that, it appears the entire appearance of this once air-cooled beauty has been completely altered to give us that rat rod feel. Here are some images from their Instagram below. Share your thoughts with us. You can watch the before and after transformation on their Instagram linked below.

Not my bag, mostly because it's got rear fenders and the tires are outside of them. I get it with the vehicles that are usually converted to look like that. They have their fenders removed. This would have been better made into a freaky dune buggy.

They amputated everything I like about aircooled 911s.
Not for me. |
now can't un-see

This project was posted on the 911 forum years ago. It was red.
I'm glad it got done. |
Another iteration of the hot rod theme. It's ok I guess. I suspect that it is a tube frame, big motor, drop-on body du joir that is best enjoyed from outside while it's sitting still.

The .PNG you're trying to upload is too large. Convert it to .JPG.

My mom said that if I couldn't say anything good........
The best thing I can say that it's interesting. In my opinion, such a study should have never left the sketchpad, better projects to do with such resources at hand. For the record, I had similar misgivings about another project, this one I saw in person and could not warm up to it. I don't get bent out of shape when people do this to their cars. Its their car and they can do whatever they want to it. Kinda negates everything I like about Porsche though. Like George said, there are "better projects to do with such resources at hand."

Found some more pictures of during the process found on their Facebook here.

Porsche In Body Only.

To each their own. The world would be a very boring place if everyone made the same thing. That said, this would make me appreciate other cars more since those cars are not this car.
|
I saw that posted in another thread, and I was tempted to comment but thought better of it.
Now that you've asked: No thank-you, I don't like it at all. |
Ive seen it before. Did not like it then. Still dont.

I went to the Autorama in Detroit years ago, and have to say that the more fond of a model/make I was, the more I disliked the changes to it.
For instance changes made to a first year T-Bird or split window Vette really offended to me. However massive changes to a early 1960's Imperial were almost charming, endearing even. 2011 Autorama http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/391522-random-transportation-pictures-435.html http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...t/DSCF0474.jpg Once in a while I see some fairly cut-throat changes to a Porsche and like it, Rauh Welt for instance comes to mind. And there is this blue De Tomaso Mangusta race car with wheel flares that just delights me like a kid with a new Hot Wheels car. http://wallpaper.imcphoto.net/vehicle-wallpapers/beautiful-italian-cars/de-tomaso/de-tomaso-mangusta-racing.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1487626612.jpg It's a fine series of lines between enhancement, customization and desecration. And it's all subjective. |
