Attending a parade?; better be watchful

Here's another.

Car Drives Into Crowd At Gulf Shores AL Parade

Why even go to the parade?

sammyg2 02-28-2017 08:20 AM

I've never been to a parade.
I seriously doubt I will ever go to a parade.
I don't even like crowds.
Probably not going to be much of a problem for me at least ;)

I go to Porsche Parade regularly. Since it is a bunch of Porsche and not Mustangs no crowds have been crashed into.

I hate crowds with a passion and hate parades even more. Couldn't pay me to go to one or even watch it on tv. I'm also not worried about this happening to me.

Not a big crowd person either... but...
My wife loves parades (the things we do for love!)

First parade we went to together was the Rose parade, NO NOT THAT ROSE PARADE! The one in Portland OR... she asked if I wanted to splurge and get the tickets inside the arena (parade starts by going through the arena then out onto the streets of Portland) turned out to be a good idea because it was sprinkling all day (in Portland, go figure)

Second was the Huntington Beach 4th of July parade, reserved seats in the brewery (again a good idea, beer, food, and a clean bathroom).

Third was the Westchester 4th of July parade, small parade, we just got there a half hour early and sat on the curb.

Dunno with all the high tech in our lives there is something refreshing about the decidedly low tech of going to a parade, sitting in a group of real people, and watching real people march in a parade and everyone having a great time.

YMMV

PS: I was in the marching band in High School so maybe I have a soft spot for parades.

PSS: Shouldn't we be more afraid of going to cars and coffee?

Parades seem to attract bad drivers like trailer parks attract tornadoes.

I can't stand crowds or parades since I got out of the Army. Vietnam 69-70 Infantry(Cambodia also)
