Sittin Here Tonight When When...
Sittin here tonight watching a Tony Curtis, Jerry Lewis movie Boeing Boeing. When I noticed a painting used as set decoration by Claude Venard. Hey I got one of those too.
Venard in the late 50's to early 60's was the flavor of the day among the Hollywood set. Everybody who was anybody had to have one. I also noticed a painting of his in "Bell Book And Candle" |
An art thread? About time.

I had to google Claude Venard and the results showed abstract paintings. One was for sale for $16058. So maybe Tabs you are on to something....:)

I took some Screen Shots but they turned upside down when loading...
When I watch old movies I always pay attention to the art that they used to decorate the sets. A lot of the artists that worked for the studios in the old days turned out to become rather famous. Years ago I talked to a gal who owned a movie prop business that bought a room full of paintings from one of the studios for cheap. She was wondering about the artists and their values. She could have been sitting on a gold mine? I also know Sterling Silver, art glass, ceramics, furniture and rugs. Or at least know enough to get by on. Now I know shoes to. |
