Sinister and menacing

Today at the local Ford store, finally getting the driver's side airbag replaced on my '09 Mustang. There were two 2017 Mustangs on the floor. Both all black, no stripes. One a blown Rauch...didn't ask the horsepower...probably gobs if 1/4 mile is your thing.

The other? A 350GTR...with a 10 thou "dealer price adjustment". Both cars sinister and menacing. I told 'em I'd buy the 350GT if they'd drop the 10 thou. No deal.

Probably just as well...behind the wheel of one is no place for this old man.

What, your "flip phone" doesn't have a camera? Pictures man, pictures.

You're right...no camera on my flip phone. Hell, I just use the thing to make calls. Wouldn't have gone with even it except you can't find a pay phone these days.

So, you'll just have to trust me...if a 350GT shows in your mirror, it'll look sinister and menacing. This one in black with no stripes, doubly so...

I saw one (350GT, not black) parked at my place the other day in visitor parking. Pretty cool car, and sounded really good as it was leaving.

It's remarkable to see the GT350 continue to come up in conversations on this board...or at least it seems to be re-surfacing frequently.

Because they have caused a stir since they first appeared. One of those cars that crosses brand loyalty lines. A car that dealers can ask a er.."price adjustment" for two years after introduction.

All black and no stripes gave it a very appealing sinister & menacing look...one you'd never forget if it appeared in your mirror.

Anyway, here's Jay Leno talking about his with the head Ford engineer who developed the car.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYU94CB7RO0

here's a short 7 minutes with a stripeless 2017...video says $50K. Dealership in Albany, OR was asking 70.

Logically, I need one about like my diabetic diet needs donuts...

My current daily driver is a triple black 04 GT convertible, I think it looks fairly menacing, but you are right, that GT350 with the howling Coyote motor all in black would be a sweet ride.

I win the big lottery, I would go to Ford and buy 2, possibly 3 vehicles;

- King Ranch diesel F250
- Shelby GT350 Mustang
- new Ford GT with the twin turbo V6

I'm sure they are really menacing cars, but I just can't get past what they seem to do to the owners. They seem to really act like dumbasses when they drive these things. In Albuquerque (and I'm sure most cities in the center of our great country), they seem to be the IT car to get when you can scrape a few bucks together or have "arrived". They all have crazy loud exhausts and, much like H-D owners, they seem to love to rev the crap out of the motors whenever they get a chance. Total dickhead behavior, IMHO. I have loud Ducatis. Doesn't mean I need to constantly rev them.

That new GT looks great!

I would not want one in black (way too hot here), and I really don't care or want my car to be sinister or menacing.

Yep, same here in Houston, the louder the better.

There was a Ford commercial in the super bowl where they flashed a collage of a bunch of the new Fords, there is a shot of the GT going down the road.
My wife: "Is that a Ferrari?"
Me: "No... then I went on to explain it was a spin off of the famous Ford GT40 but I'm sure all she heard was blah, blah, blah."

Anyway, at $450K it might as well be a Ferrari.

Ironically I googled it to get a better look... and a $400K Lamborghini popped up!

Ford (and several other makes) drank the "consistent brand appearance" KoolAid a few years ago. I don't get what makes them think people want their car to appear similar to all the other Fords...especially if they throw the design pitch into the dirt.
