Yet another old car, Hot Rod

This one a 1927 (maybe '28??) Buick. Very complete, looks ready to run and drive.

The guy (black T-shirt) looking at it will be doing the fix. They're thinking of street rodding it a bit, but I think get everything working right, brakes, steering suspension, get a better set of new tires, maybe a bit wider too and you WILL have a hot rod. This thing has a huge 6 cylinder, massive brakes, it probably has good steering, in theory, and reminds me of the roaring twenties Sunset Blvd cruisers.

This thing would be too nice to street, and it's dimensions wouldn't suit a street rod in any case. Quite a big car really. ]

Seems a shame to rod it.

Yeah, beautiful, and looks mostly complete/correct. Would be a shame to turn it into another hot rod.

I agree - it's rare to find a car in such great original condition - why f*ck it all up?

+1 on that. Get a crappier example to chop up into a hot rod. Keep that one as stock as possible.

I drove an unrestored 1927 Buick like that once upon a time. The thing was almost perfect, except for an oil leak that got the leather fan belt slippery, so I had to stop and let it cool down every little while.

It was really great fun to drive that car. I have no idea what happened to it.

Please don't f*** up that excellent example by hot rodding it. Rods are a dime a dozen, but that car is not.

Beautiful as-is.

That horn looks like it came off the Super Chief.

Very rare to find one in that fabulous condition. Fenders, bumpers perfect... wow.

Might be. But probably a new fuel Inj type or maybe a v/6 Buick. Not sure yet. These guys are hard core hotrodders, so they'll come up with something a bit different I think. (Ya know to match the oddball car they're building)

Rear end is in (Colorado) front end (Toyota Takoma), they have but not installed yet.

As Trump says, "it'll be great"

Now, now, it's not that bad. You might even like it. If you guys don't like it
when we get it done, we'll put it back the way it was. Don't worry, be happy.

JohnCo where are you?? Help! HELP!

I dunno, maybe I'm just not jaded to hot rods like some others. It's your car, you're doing what you want with it, and you're excited to move on with it. Good on ya! Keep updates coming, curious to see how this goes.

Yay.

Another "hot rod" with a bunch of mail-order bolt-on bull*****. Are they going to sand-down the paint to generate some "patina," too?

There are literally tens of thousands of aborted "hot rod" projects dotting the automotive landscape, where the owner wanted to do "something different" or his "interpretation". Why not start with one of those? There are not a lot of original, unmolested early cars out there. It's pure ego to fuch up a rare survivor because someone thinks he's a "hard core hotrodder."

Judging by those wheels, a Kardashian has better taste in automotive accessories.

Another vote for they should have left it alone.

Hope they kept all the old parts.

I'm usually in the "hot rod the hell out of it" camp, but I find myself in the "what a shame" camp on this one.
