Shower Leak thoughts?

One of the two shower heads is dripping a lot. 15 years ago or so, I installed a his and hers shower heads and controllers with separate controllers. One side is dripping out of the shower head constantly. It has its own volume control (on and off) (left image) and temperature control (right image), its a Delta system and the Beauty plate says "2300 series) don't know if that is the system or the beauty plate series. Can't find the installation paperwork.

Since its dripping at the shower head, I'm guessing its the left volume control valve.

Went to HD and two local plumbing supplies and they said bring in the cartridge to match it up, the trouble is I saw nothing in their inventory that remotely looked like what I had. So I have to shut the water off to the house and go and see what I can find.

Any thought?

Yes, that's the best way. Forget HD, they wouldn't have it. Get it to Fergunson and talk to the guys behind the counter. They should be able to able to get you the correct part. The Volume control is worn. Getting that part out is going to be a challenge sometimes due to age and some of the plastic parts.

More better image. I need a newer digital camera.

The holes are absolutely dry, which is good news.

Teflon taped them up 15 years ago, and the hard water here is still killing it. Excellent idea on the warranty stuff, I'll check it out first, Not a big deal, I still have a second shower head and two more showers, just an annoyance. The wifey likes two shower heads, so she isn't happy....you know what they say about Momma, "she isn't happy, no one is happy".

I had a shower fitting (brazed) start to leak after 25 years or so of southern CA bad water. I had already installed a whole house softener but the corrosion had already started. I tried working through a hole like yours and it was a tad hard so I made an access panel of the same materials as the shower. That made working on things much easier for sure. You might want to consider that and also a softener since you live in southern CA too?

My Delta kitchen faucet was recently struggling to find the sweet spot to make the water stop. I sent Delta an email with my model of faucet and the part number I needed. The part showed up a week later for free.

Couple thoughts...

If hard water deposits are keeping the rubber bits from sealing, those can be cleaned off by soaking them in something like CLR.

If you end up replacing parts, do both of them now.
