Thumbs down Jack links and baseball gloves....

Man o' man, what happened to Jack links beef jerky? When they first came out it was a great out doors man snack, meaty, tender, and tasty. But nooooooo, now its like eating a base ball glove on a hot summers day in left field! Wtf jack link? Are you cheaping out on your customers? Did you run out of cattle and are now using horse meat? you lost a customer in Freddy! Bleech, after 5 bags of this stuff, I'm Audi 5000!Big foot, heh, heh......

Good bidnezz quote, but when good folks get tired of eating leather, they will go some where else and enjoy a better snack. RIP Jack links!

I had a bro from Mid Cities that made his own too. He spiced it real good. I told him he should market it. Home made is the best in town! I would love to see homemade jerky on the market, there are other folks too. You never know you might make it big also. If you get famous, please don't chinse on your product. Freddy!

All I'm asking for is a product that tastes good the first time I consume it, and the last time. To me it seems every product sold has been taking a crap since 2000. Time for some quality and pride.

I've got another cross country trip planned for month-end and stocked up on jerky from 1,200 miles away - in Huntington Beach. Check out JK Jerky.
As mentioned, supermarket stuff has all turned to garbage.

Well... I edited my post because I had the words ordered wrong. Fingers did not type what the brain was telling them.

Also, this:
It became a "walmart" brand.

Which is mostly what I meant. Jack Links built a brand with a product that people liked. But then they wanted mass distribution, which Walmart does very well. Unfortunately, becoming affiliated with walmart has been the downfall of many products because walmart sets the *suggested* price point for products they carry.

When they say to Jack Links, "we will buy and distribute 50 tractor trailer loads per week provided you sell to us at no more than $1.83 per unit".... well, Jack makes the product for $1 per unit, sells to Wally at $1.83 and retains $0.83. Wally sells to the customer at $4.75 per unit, and you get beef jerky that tastes like it was made from used shoes.

Then the added result is that Jack figures out that they can make ALL their jerky at the Walmart price point.

Quality meat costs money.

I like this stuff. Its been about 6 months since I've had it so I'm not sure if that was pre or post cheapening. I buy jerky on road trips as a (very) mild form of entertaining while driving, so I like it a bit tough and time consuming to eat.

Bro I did too. But lately at 3 different stores, it literally tastes like a baseball glove, I know, when I was a youngin, I chewed my share of Wilson's and hell the glove tastes better. LOL! but I'm disappointed at Jack Links now, Ill try back in a few months.

I make my own, everyone raves about it. Buy an Excalibur dehydrator on Amazon for $250, it will hold 8 lbs of meat. I buy the top round steak from the Mexican market. they slice it very thin. Cut into strips, marinate overnight and you've got a nice load of jerky.

This is the marinade I do. I just double it for the 8 lbs of meat. It's a modified version of T-Bird's Jerky Recipe....

• 4lbs round steak
• 4tablespoons onion powder
• 1 1⁄3teaspoons black pepper
• 1 1⁄3teaspoons garlic powder
• 2pinches salt
• 1teaspoon Italian salad dressing mix
• 1cup Worcestershire sauce
• 1cup soy sauce
• ½ can chile en adobo
put it in a blender and pour over steak strips, marinate for 24 hrs.
