Another Air Cooled Icon Moved on Yesterday
Most of you outside of SoCal won't know him, but Tony Gerace, owner of TLG Auto in North Hollywood, CA, passed away yesterday from complications of esophageal cancer. Tony was one of the vanishing breed of air-cooled Porsche guru's. He was a good man, good father, an honest mechanic, excellent engine builder, with a very loyal following of 356 outlaw and long-hood enthusiasts.
Guys who can do a quality rebuild on a early 911 motor are becoming further and further between. Rest in Peace Tony! TLG Auto – Expert Porsche Maintenance and Repair » About TLG Auto http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1490115369.jpg |

Never met the man, but sad indeed. So many with air cooled knowledge are retired or have left the planet. A shame that Grady Clay and Warren Hall have left this board. At least their knowledge remains through their posts.

Geez, so very sorry to hear of Tony's death. Always liked being around him.
My heartfelt condolences go out to Lois and Marco and all of his family. |
Tony rebuilt my 915 a few years ago and now, with over 100k miles on it, it still shifts great.
Thank you Tony and RIP. |
That's Sad - Tony was a heck of a guy - RIP my friend -

Tony was indeed a good man. So few like him. Condolences to Marco and the Gerace family.

Sad to hear this. Tony and Marco are good people.
|
Also sorry to hear. A very nice guy and good member of the Porsche community.

I didn't know Tony, but it's said to hear of these old aircooled wrenches passing. Doesn't seem like many young guys are picking up the torch and learning these old engines! :(

I wish I lived closer to syncroid(dan). I would love to see him tear into a flat 6.
All the air cooled shops here in PHX are far from me too, no hanging around and offering to sweep floors to get to watch lol. |
Damn, Sorry to hear that. Thoughts and prayers to Marco and family.

At R Gruppe gatherings in Huntington Beach Tony was very gracious to all and great company. RIP. Another RG number retired.
|
I met Tony and Marco in 2011 when they came to NH for the Mountain Melee. Great folks and as others have said, Tony was gracious and helpful to all.
Godspeed, Tony. |
I was fortunate enough to meet Tony via Marco in 2013 at the shop and also again at Rennsport V
RIP Tony. My condolences to Marco and family Kevin Devlin Sydney, Australia |
