F1 Australia - not surprising

All that talk from Mercedes being scared of Ferrari, Ferrari sandbagging, figured that was just wind... Yup, 0.5 sec ahead of the pack for Hamilton in practice...

The good news is Ferrari is only .5 sec behind and this is a very motor centric track, go-stop-go... Hopefully if they got their Aero right the Ferraris, Red Bulls and Williams can hang close to the Mercedes elsewhere...

I would rather eat excrement than watch Hamilton win another title, thereby giving him 3 since the first one didn't count and rightfully belongs to Massa. That makes me wonder, how much did Timo Glock get for giving up that position so easily?

I'm not for parody but since Vettle winning 4 straight and now this, I'm getting pretty bored.

Totally there with you, but hoping those new cars produce tired drivers, mistakes, and less artificial overtaking. PRetty bummed McLaren still sucks too, what a waste of both Alonso and vandoorne !

Hypothetically speaking

So if Ham was to get pole position today (it could happen) and if Seb was to get
2nd on front row (it could happen too!), with maybe Kimi and Bottas behind,(that could happen) chances are Seb would get away first, as he's usually a rocket at starts. Ham not so much.

Could be interesting, Ham would have his hands full. Go Ham!!.

I was kind of cheating. Shame on me.

Looks like the secret this year will be tire management.
Coming out of the pits with fresh tires and not being able to get past a lesser car on older rubber does not bode well for future on track overtaking.
Best

BTW it wasn't me who called her a gold digging tramp. My "poor Hammie" remark was a bit of sarcasm.

Camera caught Jensen Button at the nascar Fontana race just now. Didn't seem to be missing F1 a bit.

Awesome result http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/beerchug.gif

They'll be enjoying a 'Victory Buffet' back at HQ this week, been a long time since the last one.

For a team that have won so many times they still know how special each win is and take time to savior the moment together with everyone that contributed to getting that one dude up to the top step.

The McLaren/Honda saga is not easy viewing for me as I have an emotional attachment to both companies, I really hope for F1 their relationship improves and they make up some ground this year.

Also really good to see Massa still has it, not bad for an old fella

TheMentat 03-26-2017 10:16 PM

That Honda looks like it's dragging a boat anchor down the straights!

Deschodt 03-27-2017 08:04 AM

Happy as well for Ferrari to pull a rabbit out of the hat, and it's good to see Toto unhappy for a change, let's see if they're still competitive on a real race track (more flowing). Apparently the new cars + aero make a 2-2.5 sec turbulent wake now, so it looks like it won't exactly be a season of nose-to-tail racing and scintillating passes on track...

Sounds like Bottas is already a team player (but HAM was turning down his engine so maybe that's fair that he did not try to pass him). "Please give me a contract for next year"

Honda is....sad. No power and high fuel consumption? seriously? you have to turn it down so it doesn't shake itself to death AND you need to save fuel ? I don't see ALO finishing the year at McLaren, "we should be last" on race #1, that's pretty disheartening to have a driver of his caliber being 30 khp slower on the straights and totally wasted there...

Stroll lived up to his name and strolled in the park 1-1.5 sec slower than an unretiring Massa which was slower than Bottas last year. The kid is apparently not another Verstappen. The italian sub for the dislikable Wehrlein did a good job...

Bummed about HAAS, Romain was doing well.... Are they using last year's engine or this year ? Turbo ???
