Yahoo is pushy and its pissing me off
Every time I click a link that ultimately goes to Yahoo, I end up with Yahoo mounted on my Firefox favorites bar and sometimes it makes itself my default browser. How can they do this? Whose computer is this anyway?

Get rid of Firefox and start using Google Chrome.

If you don't know what "vpn" means, then get opera.

Meh, FF is fine, I definitely don't have that problem. I have tried Chrome a few times (not recently) and found it not as good as FF. I'm sure it's better now, but I just don't have a reason to switch. Besides, I was an Android guy, and I do like googley stuff, but I'm not sure that I completely trust google with my browsing. I get the feeling that the NSA aspires to be as good as google at getting your data.

Check out these links. I haven't read or checked them all, but I suspect at least one of them will fix your issue.

You've got a piece of legitimate malware.
Have to be really careful when running installers. A lot of free / shareware and feature limited demos will install toolbars and reset your search engine. I say legitimate because they are an option preset to accept during the install. If you just blow through the Continues quickly you can miss them.

Those links describe what's happening perfectly. If I ever wanted to use Uahoo for anything, I sure don't any more.

I have been asked if I want to make Yahoo my browser and I used to catch it. I guess they've gotten sneaker and more cunning lately.
