Saw that this morning - very cool!

Had to go back and look at that! Too funny...

That is so cool. Comics haven't been the same since Opus went on holiday. Berkeley Breathed quit Bloom County because he thought he was stale and readers laughed just because they had gotten familiar with the strip. He doesn't appreciate how clever he is. Neither he nor his characters ever get stale. The same for Sam Waterson and Calvin. Geniuses who went out on top but left us too soon.

Every bit of that is true.

The sad part is how many people will never know the joy of Calvin, Hobbes, Susie, Opus, Steve Dallas, Bill the Cat, etc .etc.

When Breathed brought Bloom County back this year, he was asked why on Facebook only and not newspaper syndication again. He said one of the main reasons he quit was he was just fed up with fighting newspaper editors over the content of some of his strips... no editors on Facebook.

He and Waterson have collaborated a couple of times but not nearly was much as we would like.. and apparently Waterson has no intentions at all of ever bringing back Calvin and Hobbes.

I read Calvin and Hobbes to my kids several times per week for bedtime stories. They love 'em.
