Stars Older Than the Universe...hmmm

I'm sure there is a very logical explanation for how a star could be older than the universe:

- Inaccurate sensors

- Ageing a star is based on metal content means less metal = older star, maybe aliens harvested the metals?

- Bad Math(s)

- We really have no clue

Posit #1: We understand the age of the Universe very well, to a fraction of a percent
Posit #2: We understand the age of stars very well, to a fraction of a percent

Posit #3: We find a star that appears to be older than the Universe

Bad, media drive science:
Therefore, we must be failing at understanding the age of the Universe and/or the age of stars, because Posit #3 must be more robust than Posit #1 or #2.


Good, real science:
Therefore, we need to determine what happened to this star that makes it appear to be the wrong age, because a century of effort has shored up Posits #1 and #2 so well that they are all but a Law of Nature.
