Vegas Supercar track time.

Heading out to Vegas for New Years and want to do a supercar track session. I see they have a few, namely Exoctics Racing, Speed Vegas and Dreamracing to name three. And interesting because a few of them look to be at the same track except for Speed Vegas. Who's been and any recommendations?

I have been to Exotics Racing twice. They have their own exclusive track. I believe Dream Racing rents an infield track at the LV Motor Speedway. I don't know anything about Speed Vegas.

Exotics has been fun both times, very well run business, I would highly recommend it.

Here's a video of a couple laps from each car my last time there in October:

Cool! I am leaning towards them but Speed Vegas seems to have a lot of good reviews also..

Exotics Racing is on one side, Speed Vegas is on the other. I know Exotics Racing has shuttles from the strip and back.

I've only tried Exotics Racing and will definitely recommend... Good for noobs like me with no track experience.

Go for two cars at least!

Edit: wait, you're from Atlanta. The Porsche Experience Center is nearby, yes? I suppose go for a Lamborghini or Ferrari.

There used to be something call "Driving 101" (I think) there a few years ago. Members of the press got invited to do a "driving experience" in a formula car around the big oval. It was pretty cool. We did 4 laps, one at a time, following a lead car doing 160 mph. Amazing how much a little wind can throw one of those things around.

I ended up doing Exotic Racing and it was a BLAST! Drove the orange GT3 RS for 8 laps. What an amazing car!! I really had no desire to drive any other marque and it was well worth the money! What a great time!

Question for you and Nickshu or anyone else that has done his.

Had you ever been on a race track before this? Or was this your first time in a HP car on a race track?

For me, it was my first time on track attempting such high speeds. Honestly the guy who took us out on the Cayenne for a recon lap was probably faster than me, and I had a GT3. (I wouldn't count my parade lap at Laguna Seca. )

Yes I had been on a track before but not in a car like this. Honestly most of these cars are pretty easy to drive fast. Most of the customers at ER, in my observation, have never been on a track before. The last time I was there (last October) there was one guy in my group who had a lot of track experience, he and I got to talking, he was there to drive the GT3-RS to see if he wanted to purchase one or not, he currently had a 997 GT3 as his track car. Where else could you do an on-track test drive?

Good to hear, what a car! Personally I was disappointed in the 488 Ferrari, the turbo lag was horrible coming out of every corner. The 458 was way more fun than the 488.

I've always wondered how much track time you actually get, relative to the money that you spend. I do know that at the one DE I've attended, we got several hours of track time over 2 days for not all that much money.

Yes, I've been doing track time for 20+ years and am a PCA Instructor. As Nickshu pointed out, I was surprised that most people there had zero track time. It really showed on the track as well. I had the best lap times of 24 people in my group and I passed at least 1-2 cars on every lap. (usually about 3-4 cars spaced out on the track at a time.)

That's the truth. I swear he had that thing on two wheels as we passed a Ferrari on the orientation lap!

Yes, I understand the money versus time on the track statement, but for mere mortals like myself, getting seat time in a 2017 GT3 RS was well worth it. I paid around $610 for 8 laps driving the RS and 3 laps for my wife in a GT3 as a ride along.

I did Dream Racing last year and it was awesome! Did 5 laps each (or was it 4?) in a Ferrari 430 Scuderia and then a F430GT Race car with rollcage, race tires and the bit. Wanted to compare the two cars.

Having the race car as one of my cars required to wear a racing suit, otherwise you wear your street clothes (yes they have the suits there). The F430GT was amazing - raw, loud, brakes were incredible. Figured I'd do that over a Lambo or something smooth like that or a GT3, McLaren, etc.

I've heard anecdotally that one/some of the other places limit your rpm's, but I don't know if that's true or bs. Dream Racing didn't - I went close to redline and they didn't flinch...

My guy jokingly yelled at me for not hitting redline before a shift or not braking hard enough..(meaning i could carry the throttle longer before slowing down) lol.

Very cool! It would be cool to do whether you have track time or not, but I have to assume that even a little track time would make it better than none at all.

I understand that a Cayenne is a pretty stellar performing machine. I'd like to experience that ride.

Wow! $610 for 8 laps in the GT3RS and 3 ride along in the GT3 for the missus all for $610? That seems bizarrely cheap. Hell, I paid $1000 to ride in a 3 seat F1 car for 3 laps. And it was totally worth it.

You have to wait for their "specials" or some coupon online... I went on Thanksgiving weekend and the prices were at least 30% off list. Maybe they also give out coupons at the hotels, but I haven't seen this personally.

To be honest the experience you guys got in Vegas is 180° from mine in Miami. I left feeling ripped off and like I could have driven my Mini Cooper from home faster on that track for a track day.

For starters, I have done many tracks days, I am more of an Autocrosser, I was really competitive in a very fast AX class that used to be called B-Prepared I think it is X-Prepared now. I took 3 season points championships and too many top times of the day to count. I took about 8 driving schools for Autocrossing and had a very fast well set up RX7, it had 550hp and weighed 2650 lbs, compare those stats to many supercars today and it was as fast as if not faster than most. The kicker was no ABS, no TC and obviously no stability control. All driver.

I had sold the car and had instant regret, my wife purchased a Supercar Experience for me thinking that would take away some of the sting of selling my car.

As mentioned I did a lot of track days too, so I was no stranger to getting the car out of 2nd gear, I decided on purpose to do AX first to learn car control then move on to track days, the AX served me well.

The video they sold us was garbage, you could not see anything, I wish it looked as good as above. By pure luck, I brought my own helmet with has a camera mount on it, so I shot my own video too. It is not every day a guy gets to drive a Ferrari F430. Ironically, I used to torment the 430 and 460's on the track all the time in my RX7. I just wanted to see what the Ferrari's felt like at speed.

I chose Miami Homestead because that was the last track I did a 2 day track weekend at and I know the track very well. When I got there and did the orientation ride in a nondescript sedan, I was gutted to see they pulled a wall and were making us drive over curbing in order to cut the track in half. I was already sour to the experience but tried to make the best of it.

Then as I rounded my second lap of 3 purchased by my wife, I started to get on the car and was told to back it off, this was not that kind of driving experience. I basically had to pussy foot around the track and was allowed to get on it hard for the front straight like all the people that had no track time and just wanted to go fast in a straight line.

Here is my helmet cam video the constant and non stop babble from the asset protector in the passenger seat sucked. I understand he is not there to teach you, like when you do a DE and ask for or get an instructor, even then they let you drive and give toy tips, this guy, non stop.

My first time in a paddle shifter car too which was pretty cool. I remember Motion telling people years ago how awesome it is, it was, not sure I would want it on my fun car.
