I also live in a sanctuary city, and we have serious traffic problems. Unfortunately, most can't understand the rules of traffic, so we need a total redo of signage. For example, signs reading "es bueno por derecha en rojo" would be welcome, 8 sided altos, no izquierda, etc... But I digress, gringos over complicate the 4 way stop. |
In parts of Chicago, its a safer 'bet' to keep moving. Large problem of car-jackings or possibly getting shot by impatient gang bangers.
In the suburban areas and if on a motorcycle, its also safer to quickly get through that right turn. Reason is drivers will ride up your azz and / or squeeze to the right of you and take the inside line. That comment of the 'inside line' wasn't trying to be funny. I know of someone last year taken down while on his motorcycle. A van with fishing boat in tow clipped him. Hit and run. |
Haven't purchased in a new vehicle in years. Are turn signals a factory select option? LOL
I'm guessing maybe 20 percent of drivers use them at an intersection for right turn. |
I used to be less concerned about rolling stops until I saw a video clearly showing that if you're moving, there are times you can't see that the other traffic is moving. Only if you stop can you see the other movement. Made it clear that a number of approaching cars can seem stationary if you don't actually stop.
That said, was sitting at a red light yesterday. Guy in a pearl white Escalade drives up. Even though the light is red and he's going straight, he keeps inching into the intersection to the point where he was completely blocking cross traffic. Horns from outraged drivers didn't seem to bother him. A guy in need of an automated car. |
