This might help some DIY painters

This blue tape "bends" real well if you're like me and want to paint rims, old ones, without taking the tires off. Most tape wont bend much, and will lift easily in mid job.

Took me a life time to find this out. Hope it helps.

Tape brand is "American 18mm, IPG"http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1493492752.jpg

A $2.99 deck of cards works for wheels as well.

You can also use index cards. They still make those, don't they?

What a great idea! Live and learn.

Both ideas are interesting.

Flip the cards the other way, and still be able to use the cards afterwards :D Savvy placers might learn to ID cards by overspray, so you'd have to paint them uniformly!

My stepson (16) painted his wheels a few months back. I'd done plenty of wheels, and always hated masking them off and dealing with overspray if/when tape failed, but told him that's what he needed to do.

I came home, saw the deck of cards around one of his wheels, and was highly impressed with him. Chances are he found it on the Web, but it was still good thinking to try to find a better way. Made me feel stupid for not thinking of it, lol.

I've used the green "Frog Tape". Works well. I had to paint a bunch of wheelbarrows for our pumpkin patch. They ended up looking super nice, in easter egg colors. I used a flexible Rust Oleum in silver on the truck wheels.
