Not exactly Mythbusters
but it does strike close to home, or at one of our own.

Interesting & total surprised by the results.
Any idea what multi grips he was using to tighten the air line on the ram? (They were chromed with a pivot ratchet system)

I'm not surprised. I fast-forwarded, but would have been nice if he used a torque wrench to show how much force it took to release jack stand.

Not sure how that would ever happen when you're under a car. It's not like you bump it with your elbow and it drops.
I don't consider that result a 'failure' of the jack safety system.

Worth thinking about for sure, but this seems like the build up to a roll out of his own line of new and improved jack stands.

Had a 914 I accidentally knocked off a jack stand while under it when I was in my 20's. I bench pressed the 914 and quickly rolled out from under it.

For real...
My mom worked in a chicken processing factory back in the 70s. Two young guys she worked with were fixing an old car and they used concrete cinder blocks to hold it up. They were both underneath it when the cinder blocks failed & they didn't make it. I was about 12 at the time and I'll never forget the funeral ![]()
