2004 Lincoln LS Sport V8

I don't need a second car, but I came across something that interests me. A 2004 Lincoln LS V8 with the Sport Package.

Seems like a good price. I did some research and there were some issues with the motors, at least on earlier models.

I'd appreciate any input you guys have. Apparently it has a DOHC V8. A lot more complicated and thus problematic than an I4 in a Fusion, which is another possibility.

If that's the same V8 they put in the 2004/2005 T Birds the only problem we ever had was the oem coil pack went bad. Plenty of power, I think the same engine they put in some Jags at the time.

My parents had one, with zero issues. Relatively low mileage applied, though. Handled well enough, and got up and went nicely.
On a side note:
I had a good experience with the dealer that has the car. I bought my 04 Volvo S60R from them in 2012, and they were very straightforward and honest in their dealings. Still have the car and it was exactly as represented,

Did you get the Lincoln? I actually am getting one from a childhood friend this weekend, 2004 LS V8 Ultimate trim has 144k. My 02 Q45 was totaled and I think this will be a good replacement.

One thing to say about the luxobarge class of cars...usually older owners who follow mfgr. suggested service schedules religiously.

Yep. Just bought my son a 2011 Ford Taurus from a retired gentleman. 53,000 miles and absolutely mint with records for every oil change and tire rotation. $10k. Car is like new and will easily last him a decade or more (if he doesn't hit anything).

Product rep. friend daily drives his. 250K on it. The suspension has gone full Uncle Buck but he's still driving it because it's so reliable.

it's the reverse.

in laws had one. I drove it a few times and loved it. darn near the perfect sedan for the person that likes v8 power but doesn't need to play boy racer every day. my vague understanding is they got really cheap on the used market thanks to dodgy electronics. great looking vehicle inside and out IMO.

Interesting tidbit, the battery is in the trunk.

I decided against a complicated, expensive to repair vehicle with a DOHC motor designed by Jaguar. I bought a 2012 Ford Fusion SEL with an I4 instead. I know......I am getting old and boring. That's life.

huh, never realized the motor was a jag product. good choice to avoid I guess. still, I'd have gone Taurus just for the cush factor.
