Meh - here are a couple of "Mustangs" that go 330 mph. Or at least every bit as much "Mustang" as that thing is "Landcruiser".

Silly. They stuck a landcruiser body on a completely custom frame. Pretty sure I could make a yugo go 230 if I had enough money.

Not really. That thing is not a thin fiberglass body of radically different shape and proportions to the car that it's modeled after on a tube frame like those funny cars. It's obviously been heavily modified, but it still looked like it was a steel LC body.

Sure, to take what is normally, what 300hp, and bump it up to 2000, there were obviously some major changes to the power train and drive line. Also, to make the thing safe at that speed, they had to do some major suspension and braking changes. Still, it's pretty impressive.

Steel "Landcruiser" shell dropped over a purpose built race car tubular chassis with a purpose built twin turbocharged motor. Fiberglass "Mustang" shell dropped over a purpose built race car tubular chassis with a purpose built supercharged motor. The former ran on "gasoline" that is far, far different than what you get out of the local pump. The latter ran on 80% nitromethane and 20% methanol, both of which may be even easier to get than Toyota's "gasoline" on which they ran their "Landcruiser".

You, nor I, can buy any part of either vehicle at either our local Toyota or Ford dealerships. The only "impressive" part was the money spent which, really, in Toyota terms, was chump change. Pure advertising schlock all the way around.

Thanks for that. I was at the Mohave Space Port last week and wondered what the heck went on there...
