Android gurus - Samsung Tablet - Wifi quit working...
I've got a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7-inch tablet (SM-T230NU). The wifi quit working last week. You can turn on the wifi, the indicator goes pale green for a few seconds, and then shuts off.
I figured something got corrupted and did a factory reset. Wifi still doesn't work. I grabbed Odin v3.12 and loaded up a factory image from early 2016. Wifi still doesn't work. Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks for the help. |
Probably no help here,
But can it be wired directly to a router/other wifi device thru USB? If it works using an external path, then the internal wifi hardware might be bunko. |
Is it just one known network it won't attach to or all networks.
Try taking it to work or a place with public wifi or even hot spotting your phone. Basically eliminate your regular wifi as the potential problem. I've seen numerous times one device in a home just stops attaching to a known good network and no other devices in the house are having the problem. Some routers do receive updates in the background. |
Thanks for the ideas. This occurs on all networks.
I've attempted but never successfully gotten the thing to use internet access via USB. Anybody know of any good applications that can run on a PC and connect via USB to do a hardware assessment of the tablet? |
If you did a factory reset and it won't connect to anything then either there is a new firmware applied that is not getting rolled back and that's the issue or the wifi card itself has gone on permanent vacation
|
I'm guessing that the wifi card is dead for some reason. I did the factory reset and then flashed in an older firmware - no go.
